Classroom Ideas

The clip can be used to help pupils to write an account, in the form of a journal entry, of the experiences of those working on the construction of the pyramids. There are many discussion opportunities around the following: use of the Nile, how the pyramids were built, life during Egyptian times for people at different levels in society. The clip could be presented without sound for pupils to observe and discuss their thoughts on what is happening during each sequence. The class could have a discussion about the ethical issues in use of labour on such projects and on life for those at the bottom of the social ladder in Egypt at this time.
