Can be used to help students explore multiple meanings and associations within words and everyday phrases. After mining the title for meanings, students can then work through the poem to work out the poet's ideas and attitudes. They can then watch the clip and discuss how Agard's performance brings out new meanings in the text. Once they have discussed their own conclusions regarding the ideas behind the poem they can compare with Agard's own explanations at the end. Having agreed on a range of ideas and attitudes they can return to the text and analyse how Agard expressed these through form, structure and language.
