Classroom Ideas

Before watching the clip, ask students to prepare an improvisation set at a modern day party, in which two people see each other and quite fancy each other. Through the scene, find an interesting way to show their thoughts, keeping it fun and light hearted. Watch the clip. Discuss the context, that Romeo and Juliet don't foresee the future and how to create the scene without it becoming too heavy. Rehearse Romeo's speech in pairs. The student playing Romeo should focus on words, while the student playing Juliet should focus on body language and facial expression.
