Classroom Ideas

After watching this clip, the children may design and create their own solar ovens using pizza boxes, black paper and aluminium foil. Children can measure the increased temperature from the Sun and melt chocolate. This clip could also be used to initiate discussion about why we need the Sun and how it powers so many processes such as photosynthesis for plant growth. Modelling the distance from the Sun with balls and the playground may also be useful.
