A top couple lead a salsa class; other couples perform using the correct hand grip, arm holds and body posture. They meet, part and turn using salsa steps in time to the rhythm of the music. They watch and copy the lead couple. Men lead the movements as the females move and turn across the dance floor.

Classroom Ideas

This clip could be used to introduce music and dance from another culture. Children can watch the clip and see some of the movements that are used. Salsa music can be played for the children to move to individually, trying to imitate some of the movements shown. Teaching points to consider are flexible and fluid hip movements as well as forward and backwards foot steps.
