Classroom Ideas

Prior to watching the clip, the children could be asked to discuss when and where they might ride a bike. They could then go on to watch the clip and discuss the issues raised in greater depth. The children could also begin to consider the advantages and disadvantages of cycling as a mode of transport. Safety issues could also be addressed as part of their discussions and children could be asked to suggest ways in which road networks could be made safer for cyclists. Could also be used in conjunction with the 'Cycling in Amsterdam' clip as part of Geography studies looking at contrasting localities.
