Ben, Bimsara, Brandon, Mathew, Sophie and Victoria from Belgrave C.E. Primary School tell us what they think of Prisoner of the Daleks by Trevor Baxendale. CONTAINS SPOILERS!


What is the story about?

Victoria: The Doctor arrives on a strange planet called Hurala and meets some Dalek Bounty Hunters.

Bimsara: The Doctor becomes a prisoner of the Daleks and needs to find the TARDIS in order to escape.


What are the characters like?

Sophie: The Doctor was kind and really funny. Koral was strict. Cuttin' Edge was cheeky. Scrum was thoughtful and courageous.

Bimsara: Bowman showed great leadership and bravely risked his life.


What were the best parts?

Victoria: I liked the part at the beginning where the Doctor was on his own and he spoke to the frozen Dalek.

Matthew: When the Doctor meets the Bounty Hunters - Bowman, Cuttin' Edge, Koral, Scrum and Stella.

Sophie: I enjoyed it when the Doctor said, "If you want my bread and butter pudding recipe then you can forget it, I'm taking it to my grave."

Bimsara: I loved it when the team were imprisoned by the Daleks.

Ben: It makes you feel nervous when the Doctor gets captured and you wonder who is taking charge of this situation.

Brandon: When the Doctor was trying to think of a plan to get out of the Daleks' spaceship.


What were your least favourite parts?

Matthew: When the Doctor is trapped with a human skeleton in the basement of the Loderstar Station 479.

Ben: I didn't like it when Bowman beat the Doctor up.

Victoria: When Stella dies - someone always seems to die in all the books.

Bimsara: The plot was obvious by the time I got to the middle.


Would you recommend this book?

Bimsara: Yes but it does contain some swearing.

Brandon: It is amazing - lots of action that you can imagine in your head.

Matthew: This book is funny and scary at the same time. I would definitely read it again.

Victoria: This is a great book and if you don't already like Doctor Who it will make you change your mind!


What scores would you give the story out of 10?

Ben: 10 - it is a brilliant book!

Bimsara: 10 - it made my heart race!

Brandon: 10 - I've read it twice!

Matthew: 10 - great adjectives!

Sophie: 10 - I loved it!
