Douglas, Alexander, Scott, Helen, Alexandra, Mabel and Mhairi from Kinross Primary School tell us what they think of The Slitheen Excursion by Simon Guerrier. CONTAINS SPOILERS!
What is the story about?
Scott: The Slitheen Excursion is about the Doctor and his newly found companion, June, going back to 1500 BC.
Alexander: The Doctor finds June and decides that he will take her to Ancient Greece but while in the TARDIS they fall through a time storm and have to land in the wrong time but the right place.
What are the characters like?
Douglas: June is the Doctor's new assistant and is very enthusiastic. The Slitheen - Cosmato, Hisk, Mambs and Leeb are hate-filled Slitheen. They love pain and suffering and most of the time greed gets the better of them.
Alexandra: The characters are all very strong especially June. She has a very open personality and nearly always says what she thinks.
Was the story exciting?
Helen: The story was very exciting. I especially liked the part where the Doctor and June were in the museum and they saw their friends and enemies frozen in stone.
Douglas: The story was very exciting. There was a new surprise on every page.
Mhairi: The story was extremely exciting and at some parts I couldn't put the book down. It was very amusing and full of surprises.
Were there any particular highlights?
Mabel: I liked it when the girl met the Doctor because she thought he was just an ordinary man.
Alexandra: My favourite highlight was when the Doctor fought (or rather didn't) the bull in the ring.
Mhairi: One of my favourite parts was right at the beginning when the adventure was just starting. You can tell that you are in for a great adventure.
Douglas: My favourite highlight was when the Doctor first discovered the Slitheen.
What were your least favourite parts?
Helen: The part where Deukalion, Auglares and Pandrosos set something on fire. When King Actaeus died was a bit confusing and I didn't quite follow it.
Scott: My least favourite part was when the Doctor and June were taken to the village because nothing was happening.
Mabel: The only part I did not really like was when the humans became Slitheens.

Alexander:
Scott: I would recommend this book to people who are good readers and enjoy adventure books.
Helen: I would recommend this book to anyone who likes reading and adventure stories.
Alexandra: I would recommend this book as it is exciting and funny.

Mhairi: I would recommend this book to 9-12 year olds.
Alexander: I would recommend it to 9 -16 year olds.
