Sophie, Keith, Angus and Luke from Ditchling (St. Margaret's) CE Primary School told us what they thought of the latest Doctor Who novel from Gary Russell.
What is the story about?
Keith: The Doctor is travelling with Donna and there is a weird purple energy. This is going down wires into computers and electronic devices, and turning people into slaves.
Angus: When the Doctor arrives he meets Joe and Lukas. He is surprised and curious because Joe knows about him, despite not having met him before. The psychic paper is also sending the Doctor messages!
What are the characters like?
Sophie: The Doctor and Donna were well written and recognisable from the television.
Keith: Donna's humour was captured well.
Luke: The main characters that I didn't know were very believable.
Although there wasn't much description of what they looked like, their personalities were very consistent from how they behaved and what they said.
Was it exciting?
Luke: There were exciting bits along the way. I liked the action when the Italian man picked up the M-TEK and it exploded.
Keith: I thought it was all exciting, especially the part when Donna and Miss Oladini ran out of the observatory.
Were there any particular highlights?
Sophie: I liked it when they were in the observatory and Donna was trying to run away.
Keith: The part when Donna woke up in the morning and her friend's dress was torn made me laugh.
What were your least favourite bits?
Angus: At the beginning I found all the different names and characters a bit hard to follow.
Luke: But as the book went on you got to know them all.
Would you recommend the book to other people?
All: Yes, definitely.
Angus: You would need to be a reasonable reader.
Keith: What I liked about it is that you are drawn in and want to carry on reading.
Sophie: I liked it because it's adventurous and not something I'd normally read.
Luke: It's very exciting and you don't know what's going to happen next.
