Caroline, Charlie, Juliet, Daniel and Ross from St Peter-in-Thanet CE Junior School told us what they thought of the latest Doctor Who novel from Lance Parkin.
What is the story about?
Caroline: It is the story of the Doctor searching for a terrible weapon stored at the heart of a fortress. A weapon that has destroyed the city of Arcopolis.
Charlie: The Doctor arrives in a city destroyed by a mysterious fortress. On his way to the fortress the Doctor is surprised to come across the only survivors of the attack. When he reaches the fortress there is someone or something else there!
What are the characters like?
Daniel: All of the characters were strong, particularly Alsa one of the children. The Eyeless were scary enough to feature in an actual Television episode.
Ross: The characters the Doctor met were strong in their beliefs, some tried to help, but others like Alsa have their own points of view.
Was it exciting?
Juliet: Definitely! The most exciting part was when the Doctor had to sneak into the fortress without it knowing, and escape all the traps to get to the weapon chamber.
What were your favourite bits?
Caroline: I loved the fight in the dark inside the fortress, tension built as you didn't know how the situation would be resolved because everyone was falling into each other. When I reached this part I had to finish the book that night - it was so exciting!
Charlie: The opening of the story was so strong - the description of the beach where the Tardis lands and the city as the Doctor explores.
What were your least favourite bits?
Daniel: I didn't really have a least favourite scene, but on occasions the language was difficult to understand.
Caroline: Once inside the fortress the Doctor was attacked from so many different angles, it was on occasions difficult to follow.
What age group do you think it's suitable?
Charlie: I'd say 9-15 year olds because although it can be funny, many younger children would struggle with the size of the book.
Juliet: I think this book would be most suited to children of 12 and up, but I'm 10 and I still enjoyed it!
