Here's what Jessica, Michael, Rowan, Katie and Bethany had to say.
Warning! This review contains some plot spoilers.
What is the story about?
Two and a half million light years from Earth lies the Andromeda Galaxy where danger lurks around every corner. It is here that the Doctor and Donna meet The Cult of Shining Darkness who threaten to bring peace between humans and machines to an end!
What were the characters like?
Jessica: "The Doctor had some funny lines and he made me laugh as usual."
Michael: "Donna was her usual bossy self whilst Mesanth was kind and considerate."
Rowan: "All the characters were very realistic and natural."
Katie: "The description of the robots made them really creepy."
What did you enjoy about the book?
Katie: "The writer gave some of the characters great weird names and used some great description."
Michael: "I loved the part where Li'ian turns out to be on the bad side and shoots Garaman. It was a clever twist."
Rowan: "Hard to say because I enjoyed it all!"
Was there anything you didn't like?
Katie: "The introduction could have been more exciting."
Michael: "It was hard to get into at the beginning but then I couldn't stop."
Bethany: "I loved it all - it was fab!"
What did you think of the story as a whole?
Michael: "The story was a great idea with our heroes trying to stop the cult of shining darkness from succeeding with their plan."
Jessica: "Really good and exciting. An awesome read!"
Rowan: "It was brilliant!"
Bethany: "Amazing - just like all of the Doctor's adventures."
Overall, the kids rated Shining Darkness 8/10.
