In our latest book review we asked the Reading Group of Kinross Primary School, Scotland to let us know what they thought of the latest Doctor Who novel - Snowglobe 7 by Mike Tucker
Here's what Lewis, Callum, Kirstie, Jamie and Sam had to say.
Warning! Below be spoilers!
What is the story about?
Lewis: Snowglobe 7 is set in the year 2099 when global warming is at its peak. The ice caps, the Arctic and the Antarctic are melting and the governments of the world are trying to preserve what is left of them.
Callum: The prologue really sets the scene for the rest of the story. We begin with a tragic accident in the tunnels below Snowglobe 7.
Kirstie: The Doctor and Martha have a very different holiday to what they expected. Instead of sand and beaches they find Snowglobe 7 and their adventure starts from there.
What were the characters like?
Jamie: I thought it was a good choice of characters and I really liked the monsters.
Sam: I thought some of the characters didn't have much to do in the story.
Callum: I think the Doctor and Martha's characters are written into the story very well. Martha's medical knowledge is used much more in this story.
What did you particularly enjoy/dislike about the book?
Sam: I thought the start of the book was cool, but when they were walking in the snow and the creatures came it was a bit boring.
Lewis: I particularly enjoyed this book because it is quite different to all the other books I have read.
Kirstie: I really liked the suspense. I was always wondering what was going to happen next.
Callum: I think the story is very good and I enjoyed the sub plot of O'Keffe and Curtis running behind the rest of the story.
What did you think of the story as a whole?
Kirstie: Snowglobe 7 is the first Doctor Who book I have read. I enjoyed it and I am looking forward to reading more.
Jamie: I thought the story started off quite slow, but then it sped up and I enjoyed reading it.
Callum: Overall it is a really exciting and interesting story although I think the first few chapters feel more like a Peter Davison story rather than a David Tennant one.
Lewis: I would definitely recommend this book - a perfect example of what Doctor Who is all about!
What score would you give the book?
Callum: 8 out of 10
Jamie: 7 out of 10
Lewis: 9.5 out of 10
Sam: 7 out of 10
Kirstie: 10 out of 10
