In our third of four new book reviews, we asked the pupils of Somervale School in Bath what they thought or the new Doctor Who novel Peacemaker, by James Swallow.
Here's what Sammie, Piers, Jake, Zara and Tom had to say.
What is the book about? (spoilers!)
The Doctor and Martha travel to the Wild West where they encounter a snake-oil salesman called Alvin Goodlove, who sells medicine to þcure' smallpox. There are side effects though and the salesman must be stopped before his cure gives it's after effects to anyone else.
What were the characters like?
Jake: The characters were definitely believable and the author made them seem as if they could be in the series.
Sammie: They were fantastic!
Zara: Very believable.
Tom: The Robots were excellent and the Doctor was very much like he is in the series. Martha could use some work though!
Piers: The characters were very believable and when I was reading it I felt as though I was watching the TV programme.
What were your favourite bits?
Piers: The part at the beginning where the two mysterious cowboys arrive.
Tom: The robots blowing up the town was a good bit.
Zara: My fave bit was at the end when the clade infiltrates the Doctor. It was amazing!
Jake: When the Doctor turns the clades back to normal by fixing their circuits.
Sammie: My favourite bit was all of it.
What was your least favourite bit?
Sammie: When the sheriff died. I felt very sorry for Nathan. The prologue wasn't that good though.
Zara: Very beginning – totally boring.
Jake: The prologue.
Tom: I didn't dislike any of it.
Piers: I didn't have a least favourite bit.
What did you think of the book as whole?
Piers: I loved reading it.
Tom: Book is OK, a good storyline but it needs more enthusiasm. No where near as good as an episode.
Jake: Exciting and funny.
Zara: Book was very dramatic and cool.
Sammie: It was awesome! I loved every bit of it – funny, serious, dramatic and exciting!
The group gave Peacemaker a wicky wicky wild 9 out of 10.
