Encouraging recruitment of more disabled people in BBC Future Media
Fifty delegates attended the inaugural ‘People with Disabilities in Tech’ event at the BBC at MediaCityUK earlier this month. The event was designed to encourage more disabled people with tech skills and experience to apply for roles in BBC Future Media – the division which designs, develops and runs the BBC’s digital services.
Featuring a mixture of topics – from what it’s like to work at the BBC with a disability, through to the latest developments in iPlayer, the day increased awareness of the BBC as both a tech employer and an employer with a serious commitment to creating a diverse workforce.
Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive and 98% said they would now be interested in a job at the BBC.
The diversity team within Future Media are planning more recruitment events for people with disabilities over the next twelve months; if you would like to be added to the mailing list and notified of forthcoming diversity activities please contcat Nicola Crowther
