The primary focus of the Looe Festival by the Sea is to celebrate Looe's centuries old fishing industry which stills thrives today with numerous day boat fishermen landing their catch at the local Looe fish market. The Festival by the Sea event celebrates the port's maritime links and shows the the story of how fish is caught, landed and then processed. Looe fish is much heralded for it's freshness and quality and has been praised by none other than the world famous Rick Stein. Festival chairman Neil Birchwood Harper said: "The theme for the Festival has always revolved around Looe's considerable links to the sea, especially around Looe's 'day caught fish' which has a worldwide reputation for freshness and quality. "The event is always very much a home grown celebration, with music, singing, boats, and of course food." |
