Are The BBC Sport and BBC News TV apps closing?

Yes. From 16 November, the BBC Sport and BBC News TV apps (UK and international) will no longer be available on connected TV.  You can still keep up with all the latest news headlines and stories by heading to BBC News section on BBC iPlayer or the BBC News website and app for international news.

You can also watch live Sport on BBC iPlayer and catch up with all the best sport programmes.

This change won’t affect the BBC News and BBC Sport website and mobile apps, which will continue to operate on the web, phone and tablet.

Why is this happening?

This isn’t a decision we’ve taken lightly. We want to give people even better services in the future and this means balancing the resources we need to maintain our TV apps with the additional resource needed to create new and better ways for viewers to experience BBC content across all our platforms (TV, radio and online).  To find out more why the BBC is making this decision, head to our blog at bbc.co.uk/aboutthebbc
