How to Make a Butterfly

You will need...

  • Cardboard tube
  • Coloured paper
  • Pipe cleaner
  • Scissors (Grown-up use only)
  • Crayons
  • Paint
  • Paintbrush
  • A pen or pencil
  • Glue
  • Paint your cardboard tube blue and leave to dry
  • Fold your yellow paper in half and draw a butterfly wing from the centre fold
  • Cut the wing out and open up to make a set of wings
  • Use crayons to decorate your wings however you choose
  • Glue your cardboard tube to the middle of the wings to make a body
  • Stick two pieces of pipe cleaner or card into the tube to make antennae and draw on two beady eyes and a smile.
  • Gently press the butterfly wings at the back to make your flying little friend come to life

How to Make an Elephant

You will need...

  • Cardboard tube
  • Coloured paper
  • Scissors (Grown-up use only)
  • Paint
  • Paintbrush
  • A pen or pencil
  • Glue
  • Draw a trunk and two ears
  • Cut out the elephant ears and trunk
  • Draw some eyes and cut out
  • Paint the cardboard tube, ears and trunk grey and wait for them to dry
  • Use some glue to stick the ears on
  • Fold the trunk to make it wavy and stick it on
  • Finally, stick the eyes on and your elephant is finished

How to Make a Dinosaur

You will need...

  • Cardboard tube
  • Green paint
  • White paper or card
  • Pink paper or card
  • Scissors (Grown-up use only)
  • Paintbrush
  • Pen or pencil Glue
  • Paint your cardboard tube green, leave to dry, then cut down one side to make a mouth
  • On white paper, draw around your four fingers to make a set of dinosaur teeth
  • Cut out your dinosaur teeth
  • Glue your teeth to the inside of your dinosaur mouth like so. Use a black pen to draw on two beady eyes
  • On pink paper, draw around two of your fingers to make a tongue
  • Cut out the pink tongue
  • Glue the tongue into the back of the tube and squeeze your dinosaur to make him talk

How to Make a Frog

You will need...

  • Cardboard tube
  • Green card
  • Blue card for the pond
  • Pink or red paper
  • Green paint
  • Paint brush
  • Glue stick
  • Sticky tape 
  • Pen and pencil
  • Scissors (Grown-up use only)
  • Paint the cardboard roll green. 
  • When it's fully dry, use some sticky tape to stick down one end of the cardboard tube. 
  • Now, using some green paper, draw four legs for your frog. Ask a grownup to cut them out. 
  • Stick them on with glue or sticky tape.
  • With a grown-up's help, cut out two small white circles and stick them on to make the frog's eyes. Finish them off by drawing a little black dot in each one.
  • Ask a grown-up to help you cut out a long strip of red or pink paper and curl it around a pencil to make the frog's tongue.
  • Use some glue or sticky tape to attach it.
  • If you want to make a pond for your frog to sit on, ask a grown-up to cut out a pond shape from the blue card, you can also add a few lily pads using the leftover green card.
