CLOSED - Design a Dragon Competition

How to enter:

All you need to do to enter the competition is to download the entry form by clicking the blue button above. You need to:

  • Fill in the form on page one and get your parent or guardian to sign it
  • Write a paragraph in the box on page three about the inspiration behind your dragon design
  • Design your dragon in the blank box on page four
  • Give your dragon a name and a special ability

Then post your form to:

The form must be with us by 25th May 2017 by 12pm. All entries must be sent by post with the correct postage and you may only submit one entry per person. Read the full terms and conditions

Rules

1. A dragon must be designed – for the Great Pagoda, Kew Palace

2. Give your dragon a name and a special power – it must have an amazing ability and a name

3. Your dragon must be original - don’t copy any existing dragons from illustrations, books or films

4. Don’t include Blue Peter - the Blue Peter logo, badges or presenters should NOT appear in your design

5. Your dragon must have a classic dragon shape - including wings, a body, a tail and mouth.

6. The design must be innovative, imaginative and bold so that it stands out on the pagoda!

The prizes

1st Prize: 1 Winner

• Their design is created into a dragon and placed onto the pagoda for one year
• A framed copy of their design
• A Blue Peter Orange competition badge
• A ticket to attend an opening ceremony of the renovated pagoda including a tour of HRP Kew Palace, Royal Botanical Gardens Kew and tour of pagoda
• A 3D scaled down version of their dragon design

Top Runners Up Prizes: 5 entries

• Their design is created into a dragon which will form the “dragon sculpture trail” at RBGK
• They will be given the opportunity to brief the artist who will create their dragon.
• A framed copy of their design
• A Blue Peter Orange competition badge
• A ticket to attend an opening ceremony of the renovated pagoda including a tour of HRP Kew Palace, Royal Botanical Gardens Kew and tour of pagoda

Top 30 Runners Up

• The top 30 designs that go through to the second round of judging will receive a Blue Peter Orange competition badge
• Their design featured in a display in HRP Kew Palace and the Welcome Centre

Free Entry to Kew Palace and Gardens

Please note Blue Peter badge holders can gain free entry to Royal Botanic Gardens Kew and HRP Kew Palace.
