When will I hear if I have been selected?Hide
Work experience in the BBC is very popular and we receive a lot of applications. This means shortlisting can take a while, so please bear with us.
We will be in touch whether you are successful or not. If you are successful, we will try to give you a call at least 2 weeks before the placement commences. If you are unsuccessful in your application this time around we will notify you by email.

Where will the work experience take place?Hide
Opportunities for work experience are available in various UK locations. You can see the location of each placement before you apply.
Remember: If successful, you will be responsible for organising your own accommodation, travel arrangements and any costs incurred, including expenses.
Can I apply for work experience in more than one category?Hide
We are only able to accept your application for one work experience category. We offer placements in various locations in TV, Radio, News & Journalism and Business and Support, so you should think carefully before choosing which one you want to apply for.
I can see that my application is showing as Application Submitted, what does this mean?Hide
Congratulations you have completed the application form and successfully submitted it to us. We will be in touch by phone or email as soon as possible.
My application status is showing as In Review, what does this mean?Hide
This means your application is still being considered. We will be in touch whether you are successful or not.
If you are successful, we will try to give you a call at least 2 weeks before the placement commences. If you are unsuccessful in your application this time around we will notify you by email.
My application status has gone from In Review and now back to Application Submitted, what does this mean?Hide
Don’t worry, this is just part of the shortlisting process. We will be in touch either way.
Can I apply if I’m under 18?Hide
The majority of BBC work experience placements on offer are for individuals who are 18 years and over. However there are a number of placements that are available to younger candidates (16-18 year olds).
We will indicate the age requirements for each placement before you apply. You will also be asked your age when you complete the application questionnaire.
Can I apply for work experience if I am not based in the UK?Hide
Work experience placements are only available in the UK. We only accept applications from people who have already obtained the right to work in the UK.

What is the duration of a work experience placement?Hide
What is the duration of a work experience placement?
BBC work experience placements last a minimum of 3 days to a maximum of 10 days. The length of placement differs, so please check the details of the placement you’re applying for to see what’s on offer.
What are the hours of a work experience placement?Hide
The majority of all placements will follow normal business hours (09:30-17:30 Monday-Friday) however certain placements may require work outside of these hours. The Recruitment Team will discuss this with you in advance and will confirm specific details via email.
How soon can I apply for another work experience placement with the BBC?Hide
You can only complete one work experience placement per year. After your placement you can apply again a year after the last day of your work experience placement.
If I am unsuccessful, can I apply again next time?Hide
Yes, but you might want to revise your application to make you stand out more.

Unfortunately, due to the number of applications we receive, we cannot offer feedback for unsuccessful candidates.
