Party Election Broadcasts
Each broadcaster is responsible for deciding the allocations made available to a political party. However, through the BLG broadcasters work together with the Electoral Commission to ensure a consistent approach.
Since 2017, the BBC is subject to the Ofcom Code, which sets out the criteria for PEBs in first-past-the-post elections.
Ofcom published a guidance note on 11th January 2021, with regard to: “The treatment of independent candidates under Ofcom’s PPRB Rules”
