Archives for September 2012
Example's much anticipated venture into rock and roll takes further shape tonight with tonight's Hottest Record. Close Enemies "is the song that sums up the album" for the artist and whilst it's still clearly an electronic album, the addition of guitars has opened up a whole new range of theme and melody for Example.
Something remarkable has happened since we last caught up with Keaton Henson at the festive festival. Desperate to avoid any typical cocoon/butterfly analogy, I will just say this, the guy is ready. The journey to this point has been delicate and thoughtful, but they guy is ready. Kronos is a wonderful and remarkable surprise.
As work on the new Nero album continues at a strong rate confidence is high enough for the boys to deliver this very tasty club banger as a stop gap. Unlikely to appear on the record but big none the less.
A typically thoughtful beginning for Bat for Lashes first single 'Laura' made way inevitably for a disco 2012 that is 'All This Gold'. This move to the dance floor was hinted at in an earlier interview with Natasha, but do not fear that she has made a full transition into big room cheese. This dance floor is a class more of wit and shimmy than a full-scale big-fish, little fish, cardboard box.
Not once but twice for The Blackout tonight which, along with the vast anticipation that accompanies this bands return, kept social networks on fire. The Blackout are back. Let's start the party.
'Maybe Today, Maybe Tomorrow' is a brand new album, the third, from We Are The Ocean. It's this week's album of the week, and this week's final hottest record is another exclusive taken from it. Check out the Radio 1 website for more music and interviews from We Are The Ocean.
Time for a rethink. At least that's what Jakwob was clearly thinking six months ago, when his impeccably-produced attempt at cracking the top 40 failed to deliver upon expectation. Exactly whose expectation it fell short of is still unsure, but this lovingly created new music he's been delivering in recent months suggests that his is now the only opinion that really matters.
Never one to walk the predictable route, electronic music producer Feed Me has gone uncharacteristically organic on tonight's Hottest Record... Featuring the vocals from Crystal Fighters - 'Love Is All' is a great blend of groove and song.
A huge crowd at Reading & Leeds for these guys. Supporting Pulled Apart By Horses on tour as well as their own headline tour all before the end of 2012 and that's all before the debut album In February next year for Pure Love.
Hi you cheeky little parsnips, Huw here in for Zane... Tonight we give you the first proper single from The Joy Formidable's second album, 'Wolf's Law' ...Mixed by legendary Andy Wallace in New York & back out touring the UK this Autumn ... It's great to have them back.
Sometimes a band comes along that just does rather than thinks about it. You kind of get the vibe that Peace are one of those bands. A second song in and a Hottest Record sets them up nicely for whatever it is the 'do' next.
Now more than ever Jake Bugg sounds focussed and ready to put his point across in album form. Two Fingers has a timeless anthemic feel to it and will feature on the 'self titled' debut record due out October 15th. LISTEN
