Cerys has baby boy early

Cerys Matthews, one of Wales' best-known music stars and ex-singer of Catatonia, has given birth to a baby boy eight weeks prematurely, and says he's "an amazing surprise".


Cerys posted a message on her official website for her fans, saying, "How happy I am to let you know that our baby boy was born on Monday 23rd. 8 weeks earlier than expected."

The BBC 6Music DJ and singer presented Children In Need at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff on Friday and said, "We are doing very well and excited now to share this happy news with you. what an amazing surprise, just after presenting children in need on Friday! Love always, cerys and steve."

No name has yet been announced.
