Lesley Joseph leaves Strictly

Grab your glittery tissues, because it’s time to wave goodbye to another Strictly star. Birds of a Feather actress Lesley Joseph and her partner Anton Du Beke are the fifth dancing duo to leave the competition.

Lesley and Anton found themselves in the bottom two along with Daisy Lowe and Aljaž Škorjanec following the public vote. After the Dance Off, the Judges were faced with the tough decision of choosing one couple to leave the competition. Darcey said: “I wouldn’t want these two couples here at all, and to choose between them is very difficult.”

When it came to the verdict, the Judges unanimously voted to save Daisy and Aljaž. Craig explained:  “I love both couples for completely different reasons. But for me tonight, for precision, for an improved performance in this particular Dance Off… the couple I would like to save is Daisy and Aljaž.”

Darcey concurred: “I would like to save on their cleanness and the quality of their dance that stood out to me is Daisy and Aljaž.” Bruno followed suit based on “technique and performance,” while Head Judge Len said he agreed with his colleagues’ decisions.

Reflecting on her time in the competition, Lesley said: “Learning a new dance every week has just been lovely, working with Anton has been an absolute joy and we’ve laughed a lot. It’s been just a lovely, lovely, lovely journey and it’s come to an end and that’s absolutely fine. We’ve loved it.”

Anton was similarly full of nothing but praise for Lesley: “I would just like to say thank you very much, you enriched my whole Strictly experience this year. Dancing with you has been an absolute joy. You pushed me to be more creative and make the numbers better… You’re just an absolute joy. And I love you dearly.”

It’s safe to say the remaining members of the Strictly family will miss Lesley and here’s what they had to say about her leaving the competition:

The pair will be joining Zoe on It Takes Two tomorrow at 6.30pm on BBC Two, while the remaining 10 couples will return next Saturday at 6.45pm for the Halloween Special.
