Dev departs the dancefloor in Week Four

Week Four was full of surprises, but the biggest shocker came when Dev Griffin and Dianne Buswell became the third couple to leave Strictly Come Dancing 2019.

On Saturday night, the pair performed a slick Cha Cha Cha to Dancing With a Stranger by Sam Smith, but the Judges critiqued Dev on elements of his technique. As a result they placed fourth from bottom of the leaderboard with a score of 27.

After their score had been combined with the public vote, Dev and Dianne found themselves in the Dance Off for the first time, facing Emma Weymouth and Aljaž Skorjanec. The two couples performed their routines once again, but ultimately the Judges chose to keep Emma in the competition.

While making her decision, Judge Motsi Mabuse said: “Particularly in the Dance Off, Emma and Aljaž were the couple that looked more rehearsed and on top of it.”

The rest of the judging panel agreed with Motsi, sending Dev and Dianne home.

The couple were clearly heartbroken by the decision, with Dev telling Tess: “I’m not going to lie I am absolutely gutted, but learning how to dance, hanging out with Dianne and the other Pros and Celebs… I’ve absolutely loved it.”

An emotional Dianne also shared her appreciation, saying: “Dev has been absolutely amazing. His work ethic is insane. I see him everywhere practising and I couldn’t have asked for a better partner. Thank you so much for all your time and your effort. This boy has so much talent, I’m really sad he won’t be able to show you guys any more of it.”

We're so sad to see this fantastic couple leave the competition, but you can catch them for one last chat on It Takes Two this Monday at 6.30pm.
