Rose and Giovanni win Strictly 2021!

Actor Rose Ayling-Ellis made history when she joined our 2021 lineup as Strictly's first ever deaf contestant, and now she's danced all the way to the top, lifting the Glitterball trophy with her Pro partner Giovanni Pernice!

The fabulous couple gave their all in the Final, performing their favourite dance from the series: a touching Couple's Choice routine to Symphony by Clean Bandit featuring Zara Larsson, as well as their Judge's Pick: a cute Quickstep to Love Is An Open Door from Frozen the Musical. Rose and Giovanni then completed their trio of routines with a stunning Showdance to The Rose by Bette Midler.

Not only did their performances go down a treat with the Judges, but also with the audience at home, who ultimately voted them the winners of Strictly 2021! This achievement is extra special for Giovanni, as it marks his fourth time in the Final and first ever win.

The pair jumped for joy as their names were called out, with an emotional Giovanni saying to Rose: "I have to say thank you to this beautiful young lady that made all my dreams come true. You became the best, best dancer, the best team mate I could ask for. You are a dream Rose, so thank you for everything."

And Rose said to her Pro partner: "I just want to say you are so amazing, you pushed me to believe in myself more than I believe in myself. You are an incredible teacher, not just that but a wonderful friend and we’ve gone through a lot and I just want you to know you’ve always got a piece of my heart."

It really was a fabulous Final, with fellow competitors John Whaite & Johannes Radebe bringing their very best to the Ballroom.

Thank you to our Class of 2021 for giving us a sprinkle of Strictly magic when we needed it most, and a huge congratulations to your new champions Rose and Giovanni!

You can enjoy even more from the dance floor with our Christmas Special on BBC One, December 25th at 5.10pm. Have a fab-u-lous Christmas and we'll see you in 2022!
