David's Strictly journey comes to an end

Tonight we had to bid a fond farewell to David and Nadiya, as they became the fourth couple to leave Strictly Come Dancing 2019.

The former England goalkeeper had managed to save himself in two Dance Offs, but sadly it was third time unlucky for David.

The pair faced Mike and Katya, who were in the bottom two for the first time.

After both couples danced again, the judges were unanimous in deciding who to put through to Halloween Week.

Our guest judge Alfonso Ribeiro said: "The couple who I'm going to save put on a great show. The technique wasn't there but they came out and delivered a showstopper for the audience to love, so I'm going to save Mike and Katya."

But David was gracious in defeat, saying: "Oh I've loved it. I feel so bad I've let Nadiya down in a sense. I've enjoyed it, but I've put some weight on, though!"

And Nadiya was full of praise for her dance partner: "He's done so well. I'm so proud of you. From the first day he couldn't lift his elbows up or stand straight and now he's delivered such an amazing Jive. I'm so proud."

You can hear more about David and Nadiya's Strictly experience when they'll be Rylan's guests on It Takes Two, this Monday, 6.30pm on BBC Two.
