Chris Ramsey says goodbye in the Strictly Semi-Final
He kept us smiling throughout his 12 weeks in the competition, but now the time has come for Chris Ramsey to bow out of Strictly 2019.
Accompanied by Pro dance partner Karen Hauer, Chris made it all the way to the Semi-Final, performing a Viennese Waltz to Queen's Somebody to Love and a Rumba to Jorja Smith's Don't Watch Me Cry.
But they landed bottom of the leaderboard on Saturday night with a total score of 54, which was combined with the public vote and placed them in their second Dance-Off of the series. They faced Karim Zeroual and Amy Dowden - also in the bottom two for the second time this year - who decided to perform their American Smooth to Neil Diamond's Sweet Caroline again.
Chris and Karen chose to dance their Rumba for a second time, but it wasn't quite enough to save them, with the Judges voting unanimously to keep Karim and Amy in the competition.
When making his decision, Judge Bruno Tonioli said: "With no disrespect, both were highly entertaining. I love you both, thank you for three months of great dancing and great entertainment. I have to choose the best dancer: Karim.”
But Chris was gracious in defeat, telling Tess: “I am very proud of myself. I never, ever thought I would make it past Week Two, genuinely I had no expectations whatsoever! I am astounded and I’ve got to thank Karen, she is just amazing and is so patient, it's crazy! She is awesome."
Karen also had fond words for Chris, saying: “This has been a giggle fest! Thank you Judges for being so amazing to us. You [Chris] are an amazing family man, who I admire and you are awesome... Literally from Week One, not knowing how to walk, and now you are a Semi-Finalist and you have made all of us proud, and have inspired all of us. I want to thank you for being awesome.”
What a brilliant pair these two have been! You can catch them together for one last time on tomorrow's It Takes Two, on BBC Two and 6.30pm.
