Ready to set pulses racing, Dr Ranj Singh joins Strictly!

We’ve had actors who've played doctors in the Ballroom before, but for the first time ever we have a real clinician joining the Strictly family!

To say Dr Ranj is excited about waltzing into the Ballroom would be an understatement. "I've been a massive fan for so long, and I can't quite believe this is happening, but I'm going to give it my best shot," he said. "Anyone that knows me knows that I love a bit of sparkle... so bring on the glitter! I can’t wait!!”

The news was revealed live on ITV’s This Morning, where he's a familiar face to many viewers. The NHS doctor is one of show’s leading resident experts, renowned for his strong focus on the health and wellbeing of young people.

Before starting his TV career, he earned his medical stripes training at various London hospitals and became a member of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health in 2007. He stepped out of his office and into the spotlight soon after, co-presenting shows such as ITV’s Save Money: Good Health and CBeebies’ Get Well Soon.

On top of his medical and media career, Dr Ranj is also the author of two children’s books, and writes regular columns for the likes of Attitude, Now Magazine and Family Traveller. Let’s just hope he doesn’t have to put any of his expertise to use during rehearsals!

Dr Ranj is next to join the Strictly 2018 line-up after Katie Piper, Faye Tozer, Danny John-Jules, Joe Sugg, Vick Hope and Graeme Swann, with more reveals coming very soon. Follow us on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts to keep up to date!
