Audley Harrison Leaves Strictly Come Dancing

Post categories:

BBC Strictly Suzy | 20:05 UK time, Sunday, 13 November 2011

Tonight, British boxer and Olympic gold medallist Audley Harrison, became the sixth celebrity to leave Strictly Come Dancing 2011.

Len commented that 'the only way you're going to Wembley is on the Jubilee line' after Audley and his dance partner Natalie Lowe failed to impress the judges with their Cha Cha Cha. In the results show, Audley and Natalie found themselves in the bottom two with Anita Dobson and Robin Windsor, but Team Audalie were voted out of the competition.

We were the first on the floor to get reactions from our remaining dancers after Audley and Natalie were knocked out of Strictly:

I think its disgusting that Audley went out tonight. I know he wasn`t the best but what about that clown Russell Grant???? I thought this was supposed to be a dance competition? This really spoils it for me every year we get a clown in the competition and they get voted in and that is really not fair to those who are better. I thought Audley Harrison was most gracious and I think Russell Grant ought to be ashamed of himself when others are knocked out to keep that clown in!! He should do the right thing and take himself out....does he really think people vote for him cause he can dance? No its to get a laugh if you want that watch a comedy programme. It makes me want to switch off!!! Totally unfair

  • Comment number 2.

Right result but astonishing that is was Anita down there with him. I'm not a fan but she is not the worst.

  • Comment number 3.

I thought audley was great the whole way through the competition, he always thought positively, his ballroom dances were really quite elegant, his latin dances were entertaining and he never let himself down! He had a great attitude to the competition and I will miss him

  • Comment number 4.

I don't like to see any one go now, all the dancers give their heart and sole to the dance. Why can't the show run with a weekly leader board? veiwers could still vote to keep their favourites at the top. This way we could see all the celebs improve and no one has to go home!!

  • Comment number 5.

Why complaining about Russell 's dancing. When these judges still judging the way, they are doing now, looking for (missing)clothing and sexappeal instead of dance quality, don't blame the public at home to do the same.
The name of the show should be replaced to Showdancing of the stars, because almost nobody is dancing the dancesteps

  • Comment number 6.

i think it was audleys time to go, but i will miss him he seemed really fun!

  • Comment number 7.

Enough is Enough, Russell has got to go, you can only take so much camp. All his dances have been the same. Audley was better than Russell. And to find Anita in the bottom two, should have been Russell. British public please vote him out next week, SCD will become, CCD [camp come dancing]

  • Comment number 8.

have you noticed that when they are interviewed by tess just after they are knocked out,and they are asked what they will miss most, nobody ever says their partner! they always say that to Zoe ball but they never say that to tess! isnt that weird!?

  • Comment number 9.

I think it was Audley's time to go. His ballroom wasn't too bad, buit his latin seemed very laboured and heavy.

Totally shocked that Anita was in the bottom two.

  • Comment number 10.

Not sure how Anita could have been in the bottom two, her best score to date; must be the curse of the middle of the leaderboard striking again. At least if she had gone tonight she would have achieved her wish, she is surely a very good dancer now. Have to say Audley was a complete gentleman and very gracious - he may not have won Strictly but certainly has won this viewer's heart.

  • Comment number 11.

Yes SalsaMouse.....I knew Audley would not have thanked Natalie its always me, me, me. I have seen Anita, Robbie, Holly, Harry, Jason and Russell repeatedly thank their pros! x

  • Comment number 12.

I think that Russell was kept in by the GBP to entertain at Wembley, but he will go next week, having fulfilled that role.

It was a most horrible shock, though when Anita's name was called! Watching the online clips, she and Robin were still in deep shock and Robimn was almost in tears. If not Russell, I expected Alex or Robbie to be there. Just hope that Robin and Anita will have had enough time to recover by training time tomorrow and able to put it behind them.

  • Comment number 13.

I'm not surprised that Audley went this week, Russell seems to appeal to a lot of people so he'll probably be in it for a while longer. I'm also not surprised that Anita was in the bottom two, she is consistently over-marked by the judges and its quite annoying.
This year's competition is quite strange as there are a lot of dancers at the same level, rather than an obvious 'one to beat'. The judges are marking oddly as well.

  • Comment number 14.

    I completely forgot to say:

I was deeply impressed with Audley's wonderful response to Anita and Robin - even on the dance floor at the end, after his name was called, he was reassuring her. He was the right one to go this week, because the GBP want Russell at Wembley, and Audley is way behind the others in terms of ability, but I have enjoyed his enthusuiasm and huge effort to improve.

  • Comment number 15.

Right result tonight, it was time for Audley to go. Surprise that Anita was the other person in the buttom two.

  • Comment number 16.

that is meant to be bottom two not buttom two

  • Comment number 17.

I'm not suprised Audley went this week. He did no dancing at all, just moved a bit as his partner danced around him. He should have learnt more basic steps than he did last night, in his first weeks' basic training! Let's stop pretending it has anything to do with 'ballroom' dancing, just base it on entertainment value.
Mind you, even the 'entertainment' has gone out of Russell's routines.

  • Comment number 18.

"I thought this was supposed to be a dance competition?"

How can anybody still think this now? SCD has never been a true dance competition, but since about series five the entertainment aspect of the dance has been much more important than the technical aspect.

You may bemoan this, but SCD is up against X-Factor and if it does not compete, it dies. And, for me personally, I would much rather watch Russell camping it up than some northern lass say "It's me dreem" for the millionth time.

And speaking of northern lasses, wasn't Chelsee brilliant, as usual. Her modestly with Claudia was so charming.

  • Comment number 19.

Sorry to see you go Audley. I thought you did some wonderful dances and thought you had a really lovely personality and should feel so proud to get this far in the competition.

  • Comment number 20.

Anita Dobson, you did a brilliant job, don't be downhearted, you're a star, keep on dancing!

  • Comment number 21.

Well done Audley, you can walk away with your head held high and the fact that you actually danced this week shows how professional you are. I thought you might struggle this week as you had a latin but when I heard about your injury and Natalies illness I wouldn't have blamed you if you had felt the need to withdraw for the week and (depending on how your knee was) have the option to return next week. Get that knee better soon. It certainly impeded your performance on saturday and hopefully we will see you up and about again before too long.

  • Comment number 22.

I think it was Audley`s time to go, shocked !!!! to see Anita in there :( , she was too good to be there her total enjoyment of the dancing is so obvious it`s lovely to see.
I think after next week`s "Wembley" it will become more serious in the voting as it always does I have enjoyed seeing Russell`s dancing !! it has been funny and like Anita his total enjoyment has been obvious, the next couple of weeks will see (I think ) Russell and Alex ( sorry cos I like her ) and Robbie go my choice for the final three has been the same from the start Jason Holly and Chelsea but methinks Harry is on his way there too :)

  • Comment number 23.

Shocked that Anita was in the bottom two she didn't deserve it!!!!!!
Am getting tired of Russell now think he should go next.
Audley going was the right descision but will miss the gentle giant

  • Comment number 24.

Shall we just say that i generally watch SCD on record so I can go past Russell - though I did catch this week's "dance" - which was at best second rate panto - I would prefer to see AH do ballroom rather than the non dancing panto boy

Lets get to the dancing now folks - I know its entertainment - but there is a limit

  • Comment number 25.

We understood what you meant lostchachachamp and I think quite a few of us would echo those sentiments. Anita being in the bottom 2 was a bit of a shock to say the least. However she survived. I think one of the other posters hit the nail on the head though because it has regularly been said that the middle of the leaderboard is a dangerous place to be and Anita was slap, bang in the middle.

I felt there were 3 other candidates apart from Audley for the bottom 2 - Russell who was 2nd from bottom and Alex and Robbie as they were joint 3rd from bottom. The voting public have been on the right lines when it comes to picking their bottom 2 and although they selected the right person to go in Audley they selected the wrong person in Anita to be down there.Maybe it was because people thought Anita got preferrential treatment from the judges. Maybe it was simply down to the fan bases of the other 3. We will have to see what next week brings an if they are the worst dancer or in the bottom 3 with the judges then the public need to seriously think about evicting them

  • Comment number 26.

I think it was the Right result that Audley Went out tonight

  • Comment number 27.

I have already gone on record as saying that Anita shouldn't have been in the bottom 2 but having found herself in the bottom 2 it wouldn't suprise me if she was back there next week because (as I have said on different occasions) based on last series once you have found yourself in the bottom 2 you are on the publics hit list. We saw that last series (with Michelle Williams in particular) and this series (mainly with Nancy and Audley). Anita You have been warned!

  • Comment number 28.

How can any of you say it was the right decision for Audley to go when that pathetic prancer (not Dancer) Russel Grant is still there? He can't dance and he couldn't even clap while he was on the floor last night. This is just ridiculous and he should not have got past week 1. Please give us a button to vote someone off - I would gladly pay children in need for this.

  • Comment number 29.

Audley, I overheard what you said to Anita.
    You're a great fella son.

  • Comment number 30.

Audley or Russell it was always going to be, save that the latter is one of those characters the public likes to save. This is a temporary situation and I'd like to think Flavia's imaginative touches will run dry - the costume change behind a screen for a wasted seconds was entirely naf. Hopefully our perky friend will exit, career elsewhere reinvigorated.

Just a point about the judges. After so many years the freshness of their comments is turning stale: Bruno's time must surely be over, embarrassing coquettishness and all, Alesha's never truly arrived for me and now she's becoming stubborn in her marking with clear favourites; Len's undoubted knowledge is being over-shadowed by tired cliches - how many times must we endure the appalled gaze at Craig as his mark is revealed. That Len is jet-lagged is a mild way of putting things.

  • Comment number 31.

sad to see Audley go but think it was his time Dont know what Len was on tonight i thought Harrys dance was FANTASTIC and Russel makes me laugh every week and unlike John Seargent he can dance not fantasti but he can dance

  • Comment number 32.

  • Comment number 33.

    Audley did his best.
Dobbo & Robin in their Argentine Tango did the best dance in the whole show.
The prolem, if it can be so called, about who we vote for/don't vote for as the case may be, is because of the demography of the voters. And I suspect that the main core of votes come from (young) ladies of a certain age. That does not make thier opinions wrong.
I am not a fan of Russell, and Flavia certainly will not get him to ever be a dancer, but I do find him entertaining and the effort he puts in is commendable.
Having said the above, having previously said that Jason Donovan will win, I am now firmly of the opinion that the contest is wide open: And it's my opinion that that is a good thing ! it makes good telly !

  • Comment number 34.

Audley was a gent to the last; his concern for Anita was genuine and heartwarming. Next weeks bottom two should be Russell and Robbie, and Russell should go, IMHO.
As for a winner, if I was a betting man I'd place a large bundle on Harry IF Aliona produces choreography which takes the judges comments seriously.

  • Comment number 35.

Ref 28 Trevthetrainer is absolutely right about voting people off !!
Ref 30 as is Ian in what he says about the Judges. Indeed the only judge he doesn't criticise is Craig..... I too find Lens' reaction to Craigs voting tiresome in the extreme because, whether you like him or do not like him, Craigs integrity is unquestionable. He may well be uncomplimentary in his remarks but he is, and always has been, consistent. New Judges are sorely needed for next year it appears.

  • Comment number 36.

Audley bowed out with such grace. I hope you were watching Lulu. I don't know what Anita was doing in the bottom two - maybe people thought she was safe and voted for someone else.

I'm bored with all the Russell haters saying the same things over and over again. Please change the record. I hope he and Flavia go all the way to the final because they are easily the most entertaining couple and this is a Saturday night entertainment show.

I hope Len behaves himself with more decorum next week. I don't think he is fit to act as Head Judge on current form. He needs to be more professional and reign in the childish outbursts.

  • Comment number 37.

Had to be Audley or Russell tonight and sadly it was Audley. But he was gracious in defeat and openly acknowledged that Anita was the one who should stay.

Can't believe Anita was in the bottom two! Certainly didn't deserve to be there. Forget all this "chemistry" stuff, she and Robin have a genuine rapport. They seem to respect and like each other and the partnership is working really well.

Voting Public must have decided to take sides with Dirty Den because Anita is obviously working hard and is showing total commitment to the task in hand. The lady wants to learn to dance and she is succeeding. She is going from stength to strength.

Looking foreward to seeing you on the big stage next week Anita, and love to Brian for all the work he does for animal welfare.

  • Comment number 38.

why can I not see tonight's programme on catchup yet? I had to go out and thought I'd wait till after midnight to try but there is no programme!!!!!!!!!

  • Comment number 39.

Thought Audley was really lovely with Anita and he deserves a lot of credit for that. However, I would have liked him to be a bit more obvious in his praise of Natalie. I don't remember him saying anything about how great she's been, not just on the results show but previously (maybe someone can remind me if I'm wrong). I think Natalie has done an amazing job and deserves all the praise in the world.

Not totally surprised by Anita being in the bottom two, maybe a reaction against Len. Not sure if Anita has that big a support, so as the weaker dancers leave she was always going to be in the firing line. Maybe this result will shock enough people into voting for her.

Would rather Russell left than Audley or Anita. I enjoyed Audley's Cha Cha more than Russell's American Smooth. In fact, apart from Russell's Cha Cha which I loved, his other dances have been quite boring and I speak as someone who doesn't mind comedy acts on the show.

  • Comment number 40.

At last a real surprise – Anita in the bottom two. She was in the top five and so could have been considered safe. Is no one safe now? I must admit I haven’t warmed to Anita I think someone said somewhere she was like a spider with her spindly arms and legs. However as I said yesterday I thought it was her best dance. (I have no complainants that Bruno was surprised Anita was in the bottom two.)

I am sadden to see Audley go tonight as he was clearly enjoying it so much, but he did dance badly on Saturday and somebody has to go and I would rather it was him than Anita as she is a better dancer. I don’t think he thanked Natalie at the end! I hope he thanks her tomorrow. (I think he has given praise to Natalie, but I can’t remember when.) His performance can’t have been helped by his bad knee and Natalie’s food poisoning.

I thought Brendan look really happy tonight. I think the happiest all series! I thought that Holly was less laid back this week and especially on the result show.

With regard to megglers @ 1, I hope Russell doesn’t take himself out. I think the BBC should get all the money they pay the celebrity if the celebrity just gives up, unless they are injured. I thought it was disgusting when John Sergeant pulled out because he thought he might win it.

  • Comment number 41.

i think that russel can get to the quarter-finals.

  • Comment number 42.

Well done Audley. You did very well indeed ☺☺
I felt sorry for Anita but I'm not surprised she hasn't got the public vote.
Lovely lady and a great dancer but not a vote winner. Unlike Russell!

  • Comment number 43.

I'm not surprised Audley went but I will miss him he had such a great personality. I think now that Robbie has reached his goal of Wembley his days are numbered. (Russell can dance look at his marks!)

  • Comment number 44.

To give Audley his dues his end product may have been not up to spec but at least I got the impression his application was very good. I got the distinct impression he was at least trying to evolve. Which is more than can be said of Russell who frankly puts most things to shame.

Len Goodman compared him to a huge Ferrero Rocher. Frankly that is offensive to Ferrero Rocher's. Ferrero Rocher's have more dance ability than Russell. That said I have had Rocher's before and it is much like Grant's journey on SCD. The first one is nice, but whereas the second time the appeal wears of the third one just leaves you sick to a stomach ill-prepared for what is to come.

Isn't anyone going to tell Russell that the third rate cabaret act impression is getting tedious and frankly is putting the credibility of the show in serious danger of suffering severe trauma?

Can anyone really be truly happy seeing this blimp represent the show as it's champion more than say Holly, Jason or Chelsee?

  • Comment number 45.

Of course Russell shouldn't take himself out. He's loving it and the viewers are voting for him. It's called democracy. Look at how long Widdy lasted and he's a lot more genuine fun than she was, and seems a lot nicer too.
I predict others will go b4 him too. Viewers have a long history of voting against the judges' favourites and for those the judges spurn. Remember Chris Parker? And I love the Gr8 British Public for it.
And no, it's not a "dance competition." As someone previously pointed out if it were, we would have no viewers' votes, we would just have professional dance judges scoring purely on technique, viewing figures would be in the low thousands and it would be shoved onto BBC 3.

  • Comment number 46.

I was greatly surprised to see Anita in the bottom two last night but what upset me more than anything was Russell's reaction to getting through. If it had been earlier in the results then it would probably not have made such an impact but given that he was through when two very good couples were facing the prospect of being in the bottom he could have contained himself better. Throwing himself down the stairs waving his arms was distasteful. I have never been a fan of Russells but over the weeks I have enjoyed his journey and realise that it means a lot to him but enough is enough. He is not going to win, there are so many brilliant partnerships this year and quite frankly he has left a bitter taste in my mouth after last night. Well done to Anita for getting through and well done to my favourites Alex and James.

  • Comment number 47.

Have noted the comments on Audley not mentioning natalie so will be watchingITT very closely tonight. I thought he was a real gentleman when he spoke to Claudia and said he felt bad that Anita was there and she should be the one to go through. He knew it was his time to go

I think everyone was voting so tht Russell could get to Wembley and this may have had an impact on Anita and Robin's position. My feeling is that after Wembley The Grant may go as if you look at the pattern of previous series, the bad/comedy/disaster celeb always goes out around this stage and the 'real' contenders progress. Happened with Kate Garroway, Widdy etc and will happen this year too

This week I think the bottom two will be Russell and Flav and Alex and James but we shall see!

  • Comment number 48.

it is pretty obvious Holly would rather dance with Brendan than Artem . She has never been so animated. she must go

  • Comment number 49.

This comment was removed because the moderators found it broke the house rules. Explain.

  • Comment number 50.

I have enjoyed watching Audley and until this week voted for him, but it would not have been fair for him to stay and Anita to go.

I agree with Len re Harry and Aliona, it was good but not intimate in the way an Argentine Tango should be. Also the content is very unbalanced again Aliona dances he poses with his shirt open.

Holly did seem to connect with Brendon, was definitely more animated than on previous weeks, maybe she feels she can relax with him. Brendon looked well happy, possibly because he was dancing without the pressure.

  • Comment number 51.

    46. Debeveann

If you take a peep at the average scoring in what is almost a damning indictment of his position in it, eight of the top seven are still in the competition with that one in a bottom seven where six are out of the show. Guess who? Yep. Him. Russell Grant.

    47. emasl

In a scary thought Ann didn't go out till week 10 last year. We are only up to week 8 on Saturday. I would hate to think who would have to bite the dust for Russell to just equal that given two partnerships would have to go.

  • Comment number 52.

18, alan_addison wrote: And speaking of northern lasses, wasn't Chelsee brilliant, as usual. Her modestly with Claudia was so charming.

No! IMO Chelsee is using her "acting" skills to play the innocent and humble to lure people in to vote for her. I haven't fallen for it...Have you?

  • Comment number 53.

I disagree with Ref.1 - I think it was time for Audley to go. Russell is brilliant entertainment and the public love him that's why he is being kept it in. I don't think he will win it though, as in previous shows, once it comes down to the best dancers he will get voted out.

I don't think Anita deserved to be in the bottom two, but I do think she is being over-scored by the judges.

I thought Holly and Brendon made a great team - he looked much happier than when he was with Lulu.

  • Comment number 54.

I loved hearing that Audley thought Anita should stay over him, because he felt that she had danced better than he had. I'm sure that now Russell has reached his goal by getting to Wembly, we will see him in the bottom two. Anita definitely shouldn't have been at the bottom. Russell is the worst dancer and his camp comedy is sadly predictable and not very funny and he should be the next person to leave contest. After all how many of the other celebs would have signed up for Strictly if told at the time they would be expected to learn how to Ballroom dance but also expected to make the audience laugh at the same time?!!! No the 'entertainment' should be all about the dance and improving week on week! A great deal of praise should go to Natalie who taught Audley so amazingly well considering his obvious disadvantages. But watching the wonderful reception he received during his final dance, Audley is leaving Strictly with a massive amount of respect from audience and the competiters alike!

  • Comment number 55.

Have to say that as much as I enjoyed Audley's routines in previous weeks his Cha Cha Cha was his weakest dance, and the right decision was made.
I was shocked to see Anita and Robin in the bottom two, until Tango on Saturday I haven't really warmed to her and thought she had been over marked on past routines, but though she did a fantastic job on Saturday and did not deserve to been in the bottom two.
Also, not sure what gripe Len has with Harry and Aliona, but totally disagreed with his comments, I thought it was full of passion and intensity, for me the best routine of the night, and probably my favourite so far in the series.

  • Comment number 56.

I enjoyed and admired Audley's commitment and improvement; Yes, shame he has gone, unfortunatley it had to be this week or next. With Russell he is/was the weakest dancer left in the show.
I think I am the only person to agree with Len this week; Harry was great but the tension and passion was sadly and obviously missing.

  • Comment number 57.

Sad that Audley went, but it was probably his time...a true gent, although he didn't thank Natalie! Shocked to see Anita & Robin in the bottom two...Russell is lovely but he should've been there not Anita. :(

  • Comment number 58.

Oh yes, Alesha is at it again, over marking again. Please BBC, take notice, and do not re hire her for next year, lets have a credidble judge next year, I would also join the long list wanting to see Karen Hardy as a judge. How did Anita end up in the bottom two, she is really good, I thought it would be Alex, shows what I know. Good to see Len back

  • Comment number 59.

I am struggling to understand why lots of contributors to this blog are shocked Anita was in the bottom 2. Stating the obvious, she didn't get enough votes. Was this because viewers thought she was safe and didn't bother voting? At the end of the day it doesn't matter if the couple is in the bottom 2 or are the first to be called out, it's getting through that counts.

Unless the BBC start to publicise the votes cast what's to say they just put one of the more favoured couples in the bottom 2 for dramatic effect and to get the blogs buzzing.

I have checked the latest odds on one of the major bookmakers and if they are to be believed Anita is next for the chop as she is bottom of the odds to win it, and bookies don't get things wrong very often.

    13/8 Harry Judd
    11/4 Jason Donovan
    3/1 Chelsee Healey
    7/1 Holly Valance
    16/1 Robbie Savage
    20/1 Russell Grant
    28/1 Alex Jones
    50/1 Anita Dobson

  • Comment number 60.

I was sorry to see Audley leave last night. He always tried his best and worked hard and is a true gentleman. Also he was gracious in defeat; I wish him well for the future.

  • Comment number 61.

Bad form for Audley not to thank his partner Natalie!

  • Comment number 62.

really sorry to see Audley go. he was always happy and smiling and worked really hard. unfortunately though with the standard improving it was his turn.

horrified to see Anita in the bottom two. Team Dobbin is one of my favourites if only for the sheer joy she shows for everything they attempt.
    Anita is an inspiration!!!
the marking is just getting weirder. i used to look to the judges for a guide to the standards but think some of them have lost the plot. this year Craig seems the only one looking at the technicalities. hate to admit it but agree with most of his comments. Alesha's 10 for Chelsee was ridiculous as she did make an obvious mistake. even clear to the untrained eye of the viewing public. the fact that she is very good should not take away from any mistakes on the day.
come on judges sort yourselves out.
    Keep dancing!

"In a scary thought Ann didn't go out till week 10 last year. We are only up to week 8 on Saturday. I would hate to think who would have to bite the dust for Russell to just equal that given two partnerships would have to go"

did not realise she lasted that long! I always enjoy the so called comedy celeb each year up to a point and in the first few weeks perhaps it does not matter so much if they get through, but there is always a point when Enough is Enough. I think we are getting very close now. I love Russell and thinkhe is a hoot but he should go outthis week and Ithink he will be the first person to admit it. On the other hand, we might find Alex and James and/or Anita or Robin outsted instead. Personally, I do not care for the Alex/James combo whereas I love Robin/Anita but that, of course, is my personal preference and others will disagree.

However, I do think that Russell should be leaving soon

  • Comment number 64.

I am I the only one in the U.K. that thinks it really is time for Russel to go. He has not improved in any way he can't dance. He would be better in pantomine mind I would not go and see him. I think it is sad that people who can dance are getting sent home. Anita is doing so well and you can see that she is having the time of her life keep her in a little longer.

  • Comment number 65.

I think that is a bit harsh to pick on Russell for his celebration at surviving. I admit that it was a little OTT but having had to hang around as long as he did before his name was called you can't blame him for being excited as he is thoroughly enjoying himself. Why should Russell (at the moment of being saved) worry about who is left? The guilt factor should lie with the public rather than him. I dare say that once his light went out he was as concerned as all of us about who was going out.

  • Comment number 66.

VB you are not alone. I agree with Len. The Argentine tango is a very personal dance and when done right you should feel a little embarassed for watching.

  • Comment number 67.

Christine you are absolutely right. He has had his day and it is not a "get your jollies" competition. I have been voting to keep Audley in, until La Diva was knocked out, but not this week. I will now vote for the bottom two until Russell is out. It may seem odd but i feel i am redressing the balance. However, this may be why the likes of Anita was in the bottom two.

Technically, Russell is the weakest of the remaining competitors, but he can sell a dance which helps; Also the public often relate more to someone like that than to someone who is good from the word go;based on dancing ability and popularity he may be here for a week or two more in my opinion. Anita was superb; she was struck by the midboard curse ( if someone is at the very top of the judges board,it gives a little cushion and their excellence will have caught the public eye; if someone is at the very bottom of the judges board they may be pulled clear of the combined bottom two by entertainment value, sympathy or exsisting fans who will stick by them for as long as they remain in the competition. ) Personally I thought Nancy only lasted as long as she did because people felt sorry for Anton having to put his hopes of competing in the final on hold again.( Do give him a good partner next year please ! )

Because she went out in week 10 she actually finished 6th out of 14 when she was bottom in every week apart from week 4 when Peter Shilton finished last.

Audley never made reference to Nathalie, in fact I don't think he even knows the lovely Nathalie's name. He never one referred to Nathalie's help, support, choreography, he just wittered on about himself constantly. He never looked in Nathalie's direction and when he was voted out on Sunday he still didn't thank her. Nathalie is beautiful, talented and a great teacher, something Audley never bothered to mention, so why people in the media are calling him a true gent is beyond me.

  • Comment number 71.

Can I just add that I don't for one moment imagine there ever being a time where we will be able to truly separate the entertainers, those seeking to gain votes by popularity of their character, from the bona fide performers; those technically sound at dancing who tackle the competition with a considerably more spirited approach. How can we?

  • Comment number 72.

Ref 59 from Baddancingbadger: The odds you quote from the magic sign or wherever are for who is going to win the final. The fact that Anita Dobson is the longest odds does not necessarily mean she will be next to go. Yes, I accept the bookies do not often get it wrong, but that doesn't mean that Dobbo & Robin cannot progress.
No, I don't expect them to be in the final. But that is the nature of the competition, which is moderated by the wishes & subscription to the phone bill of those that call. As I said before Trevthetrainer has hit the nail on the head of subscibers being able to vote people off as opposed to voting to keep people in, but you'll see a pig fly before that comes about !
Final three: Harry & Aliona, Jason & Kristina & Pasha & Chelsee.
& probably in that order ! ( Oh ! I just looked at the odds as shown above, now there's a coincidence !)

  • Comment number 73.

From Wembley onwards it is VITAL you vote to save your favourite. Up to this point the judges scores will help the clearly better dancers. This is no longer the case.

If you don't choose to vote please, please do not complain when the result does not turn out the way you might wish. ☺

    72, Jeff

Thank you for your words of wisdom. I do make it very clear that the odds are to win it. Anita being bottom suggests the bookies think she will go next, quote "and if they are to be believed Anita is next for the chop as she is bottom of the odds to win it"

This is a sad inditement as even they think a comedy act will last longer than Anita and Alex.

Final 3: Harry, Jason and Holly for me. But if the judges have their way Chelsee will be there. Sorry but Alesha giving here a 10 when she clearly stumbled near the end of her routine was IMO wrong.

  • Comment number 75.

I grew to like Natalie and Audley and it was a shame they went out but inevitable unfortunately. Audley had a brilliant attitude and came across as a really nice guy, especially when he said that he didn't want Anita to leave the competition - what a gent. He can leave with his head held high.

  • Comment number 76.

I'm sad to see Audley and Natalie go, particularly as I totally rate Natalie as a choreographer and love her fighting spirit..she's in it to win it and doesn't seem to have an issue with people knowing that.

In certain quarters that still passes as "unladylike," behaviour, whatever!
;O) I love seeing it and you find the same attitude in Aliona, one of the reasons why I admire her too.

However, I do think it was time for either Audley + Natalie, or Russell + Flavia to go.

What saddens me, but doesn't altogether surprise me is that Anita + Robin ended up in the bottom two.

Maybe it was a case of people thought they were safe, maybe they're not as "out-there," as other couples, or more likely, IMO, they suffer from the possibility, as with so many of these "reality," shows is that Anita is not "current," or in the public eye anymore as much as someone like Chelsee, Alex, or even Harry..or someone like Russell who's flamboyant, larger than life character has won people over, or someone like Artem, who creates amazing choreography and many people seem to fancy.

I'd love to vote and would've voted for Anita + Robin, as I really admire their work..but, I think we we're allowed about 15 minutes after the end of the show to vote..for me, it should go on into the next day, but, as people have explained that the final show is pre-recorded, so that's a no go..
If you have to be out on a Saturday and have to record it, there's not chance of being able to register your opinion.

  • Comment number 77.

Audley you are such a darling - bless you! Thanks for all the Saturday smiles we've had! Gentleman to the end with Anita this Saturday.... Nat you're my absolute fav among the female pros so I hope you're still coming back dancing the pro routines. :)

  • Comment number 78.

Totally agree, although Audley isn't brilliant at Dancing, at least he tries...unlike Russell who ok, was funny once, but just has to go now - either by being voted off or bowing out gracefully like John Sargent.

Another annoying little prancer who has to go is Chelsee. Does anyone else find her totally irritating? How can you take anyone who is named after a London Borough (and who can't even spell that properly) seriously!! Come on guys, vote that little irritant off!!

  • Comment number 79.

...and in reply to some posters here...
Despite the fact that we should all try to keep our favourites in by voting, does anyone HONESTLY believe that public votes have any say in the matter?

  • Comment number 80.

Just a message to Audley. I thought you improved so much, you were always a joy to watch with your megawatt smile and tonight on ITT you showed what an absolute gentleman you are. Good luck on your return to the ring...look forward to your entrance to the Strictly Theme :)

  • Comment number 81.

I don’t understand the logic of Marion @ 48 why should Holly go because she would rather dance with Brendan than Artem? I say good luck to Brendan and Holly I want to see you in the final.

Audley did thank Natalie in ITT. Maybe he is seen as a gentlemen for how he behaves and for the things he says. His presence on the show will be missed.

Does anyone agree with me that Flavia is enjoying herself this year? I think she might be enjoying this series more than any previous one.

Chelsee(and as I have also said before, strrrrrrange spelling!) is rather weird in Waterloo Road, but then that's a weird programme and another blog.

However, she is not too bad a dancer.

But I totally agree, all this coy behaviour is fooling no one. Well not us at least.

I'm just waiting for her to grow up. But I fear she is still too immature for that at the moment.

Flavia is like me, vertically challenged. ie she is not very tall.Unlike me she is a brilliant dancer, and deserves a partner who has some potential which she can develop. That partner is not Russell, and in this series she is doing the best she can. Equal in height they may be, but there is little for her to develop. She knows that and is just out there enjoying the dancing while it lasts.
Yes , I'm sure she knows they can't win , but so far the Public vote is still with them, people seem to like them,so ,yes I'm sure she's feeling happy.

  • Comment number 84.

I think Anita was in the bottom 2 as she is the oldest and sorry to say least attractive. It is after all a popularity contest, not a dance competition. No matter who the judges vote for, the public vote for their favourite couple, not the best dancer. So the youngsters, like Harry, Jason, Holly and Chelsee are always going to be OK until the last couple of weeks. Next few weeks will see off Alex, Robbie, Russell and Anita.

  • Comment number 85.

Well done Audley Harrison, they were brilliant considering he does not have the stature of a dancer & therefore handicaped. The judges seem to fail to see, or reflect in their marking, any natural handicap and in my opinion are simply biased & should be changed. Bruno "likes" everyone else more than Audley & is clearly biased in his scoring. It is all very childish and further reflected by the tactics employed by some of the celebs to get votes. I agree with comment 84. SCD is still the best show on TV though. X factor is far worse LOL. My message is: grow up! Or employ those who are, behave so.

  • Comment number 86.

I so agree with the many comments posted here - you did yourself and Natalie proud on Strictly Come Dancing - you are an absolute gentleman and your family must be extremely proud of you. Of course you were never going to win it but you did learn to dance and I'm sure this will actually help you when you return to the boxing ring. What a fantastic idea to enter the ring to the Strictly Come Dancing music on your first bout. Hope you Win, All Best Wishes For the Future Audley.

I too thought Audley was lovely and very gracious in knowing that it was his time to go. I did notice, however, no physical contact between him and Natalie and wondered if there was real closeness/affection/respect there - which there clearly is in several of the other partnerships.

Agree that both Brendan and Holly looked the most relaxed and happy that they have all series. I thought Lulu was awful - rude, egocentric - and Holly hasn't done it for me at all until this week, when I started to warm to her for the first time.

Yes, Chelsee is extremely irritating in the manner of a small puppy that gets under your feet! She's a good dancer but again I can't warm to her much.

I LOVE Robbie, on the other hand - there is something just SO endearing about him!

I think Harry is sensational but somehow missing that extra 'something'.

I usually found, in the past, that there would be at least one dance every week that would move me and have me sitting on the edge of my chair and clapping and cheering at the end - but that hasn't happened this series :-(.

I do think that there seems to be more 'showbiz' - gimmicks, props, 'faffing about', and fewer real traditional dance steps than previously, too...

I wonder how long it will be before the BBC listens to the viewers' opinions about Alesha. She is vacuous eye-candy and her over-marking is embarrassing to watch (however, she seems singularly UNembarrassed by it).

I feel so sad about the much-loved and respected people who have gone from the show - Arlene, Darren and Lilia, Matthew Cutler, Ian Waite - in general their replacements have been poor.

But I LOVE Craig - as another poster said, he has SUCH integrity - and he cracks me up, too..love Len and Bruno too!

I think it will be Russell and either Anita (whom again I find irritating and can't quite think why - love Robin though!), Alex or Robbie in the bottom two next week - probably Russell to go but he garners a lot of public support so maybe not...

  • Comment number 88.

I saw Audley & Natalie cuddling quite a lot on ITT last night - must be watching a different show to MissPaula. :-S

  • Comment number 89.

I take it all back, MrsArcanum! When I posted I hadn't yet seen yesterday's ITT...

  • Comment number 90.

I thought Audley and Natalie were a great couple. All the way through the competition Audley has said "thanks to Natalie" good reports were "due to Natalie" "She is the dancer"
Audley is not gushy and perhaps, the other contestants should consider how their life partners feel when they are fawning over their dance partner. On the dance floor yes, of it? Seems unecessary.

  • Comment number 91.

What do you all think to Audley's advice to Anita..
"spend a little more time on the publicity trail"

Is that an insightful description of the real competition?

  • Comment number 92.

    Hi everyone,
I thought that Audley and Natalie would leave the show on Sunday, but Anita and Robin should never of been in the bottom 2 at all, it was realy gracious of Audley to say that if Anita had been sent home, he would of droped out of the competition, as she rightly deserved to stay in, but as it turned out Audley and Natalie went out, but hey I guess he will be back for the final, not dancing to compete in the final but to do a dance, guess they will have all the dancers that were eleminated from the show doing some dancing in the final, now the real competition begins, except for Russel and Flavia, only weeks to go untill they are eliminated, as they are not the best dance couple in the competition, every year they have one celeb that can entertain us not realy a dancer, but Russel give him hes due does try realy hard and puts in 100% every week, he is enjoying himself, thought Lens comment to Harry were rather harsh, Harry and Aliona did realy well I thought, no good calling Harry a silly ---, he did say sorry for saying that, thought people would complain I guess, but hey looking farward to seeing i.t.t with zoe this week, hope Artem is dancing this weekend, missed him so much, hes brilliant at what he does
    take care

nuttynora19@15:10 - Yes very true! Strictly has always been a popularity contest - even more so nowadays.

Popularity will only go so far though. I predict the middling dancers (Anita, Robbie, Alex) will go out next. All those people who voted for them will then vote for the really good (and consistently good) dancers (Holly, Jason, Chelsee, Harry) and Russell will finally be voted out. The true competition can then begin!

  • Comment number 94.

stortford rose 01 @ 92 - Yes, Audley was very gracious - what a gent! Sorry to see him go. He may not have been the best dancer but he certainly improved from Week 1. I personally think Anita was overmarked this week. There was no way her tango was better than Harry's. Maybe that's why the public isn't voting for her.

  • Comment number 95.

    @ 92

Len didn't call Harry anything, the comment was directed at Craig. He immediately apologised for his behaviour and that should be the end of the matter.

  • Comment number 96.

Unlike lincolnduncan (@ 83) I am very tall and therefore offer for consideration that when standing up Audley might be reluctant to have lots of physical contact because by even standing close to someone can be seen as threatening!

I always like trying to guess what scores Craig is going to give. If he was head judge would he control his comments like he did when he was acting head judge?

  • Comment number 97.

Harry Judd should have worn a wig and gown on Saturday, so as a 'Hairy Judge,' he could have sent My Harrison down as drunk and dis-Audley, in charge of a dance.

But seriously he wasn't as bad as Russell, who along with Tess, looked like wrapped up Christmas presents on Saturday (If he'd been in green, he'd have looked like 'Brussel' Grant instead: Is he to be this years turkey as John Sergeant and Ann Widdecombe were in previous years, I wonder? )

  • Comment number 98.

Sad Audley went but it was the right decision as Anita really didn't deserve to be in bottom two.

Not liking the public vote at the end, it should be judges decision - whose idea was it to change that?! It has made it more of a popularity competition and I guess this is how

Anita landed up on the bottom two - totally not fair, why change the final vote - if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it!!!

Loving Zoe in SCD It Takes Two, she's great personality - new campaign "Bring Back Ian Waite"!
    Keeeep dancing!

  • Comment number 99.

Firstly I just want to say what a fantastic contemporary dance Christina and Robbin did on the sunday results show. It brought tears to my eyes and I thought it was fanctastic. Christina is undoubtably one of the best female professionals on the show and I hope her a Jason win this year!!

Its a shame Robbin and Anita where in the bottom two there where worse dancers than her on the night!!!

Time for The Grant to predict his exit, now I think. Come on Russell you have got to wembly, now its time for you to go. Just tell the good british public that you have read your stars and you have seen that its your last week and the great british public will hopefully believe you!!

I love Flavia and your dance's were entertianing at first but sat nights dance was a disaster! Stop boosting your own ego and at least try to dance!!! Its getting tiresome now and as equally annoying as widdicome last year!! This is a dance competition for goodness sake!!

    Jason and Christina to Win!!

  • Comment number 100.

    1. Its time Len went. It used to be enjoyable listening to his views but now they're getting just nasty and he's coming across as not a pleasure to watch at all. He gets quite ratty if Craig dares to have a different point of view. If I was being judged as a dancer I think I would take more notice of what Craig has to say. Replace Len with Karen Hardy - she knows dancing and would add a bit more glamour to the panel too!

    2. Is it possible to feature the great band of Dave Arch on ITT sometime. Great musicians not getting much credit!
