Week 4 - Rehearsal Footage

Post categories:

BBC Strictly James | 14:41 UK time, Thursday, 20 October 2011

If you thought last week's Broadway spectacular was a dazzling display of ballroom, Saturday's show definitely has something for everyone with 11 different dance styles on display. The dance floor will be treated to....

  • Alex and James - Rumba to 'Run' by Leona Lewis
  • Anita and Robin - American Smooth to 'I've Got You Under My Skin' by Frank Sinatra
  • Audley and Natalie - Foxtrot to 'I Don't Know What to do with Myself' by Dusty Springfield
  • Chelsee and Pasha - Quickstep to 'Sing, Sing, Sing' by Benny Goodman
  • Harry and Aliona - Waltz to 'Come Away with Me' by Norah Jones
  • Holly and Artem - Viennese Waltz to 'Cry Me Out' by Pixie Lott
  • Jason and Kristina - Paso Doble to 'I Want it All' by Queen
  • Lulu and Brendan - Samba to 'Sir Duke' by Stevie Wonder
  • Nancy and Anton - Paso Doble to 'Rodrigo's Guitar Concerto'
  • Robbie and Ola - Jive to 'Love Man' by Otis Redding
  • Rory and Erin - Cha Cha Cha to 'Dance to the Music' by Sly & The Family Stone
  • Russell and Flavia - Tango to 'Sweet Dreams' by The Eurythmics

If that gets your feet tapping and you can't wait until the weekend, then check out the EXCLUSIVE rehearsal footage of all the couples in training - will Lulu be able to keep up with Brendan's quick feet? And how long can Anton hold Nancy in that pose for? Which performance are you looking forward to seeing most?

Catch more training footage on It Takes Two, 6.30pm, BBC Two.

Really love Anton and think he would be great to take over Brucie's job when he retires, but I think his partnership with his celebs is awful. Just watched this clip and OMG - time to hang up the shoes Anton, sorry, love your personality, but this is just embarrassing!

  • Comment number 2.

Good to see Anton pushing the envelope in his choreography for the Paso Doble. To often we see the woman being the cape, the matador or even the bull.

I will have to see the whole routine before I will be able to decide if having the woman play the matador's jock strap is a good idea or not.

  • Comment number 3.

Lots of couples looking good especially Holly and Harry..... Anton has left me speechless ;):)

  • Comment number 4.

That is really not looking good Anton - big re-think necessary. Come on, make Nancy look good ! Hope you prove me wrong. You did a brilliant paso with Kate Garraway ( honestly, he did ! ) - Nancy to win !

  • Comment number 5.

The rehearsal footage shown today and previously on ITT of Nancy and Anton looked ok. Not entirely sure what this is, hopefully it is a discarded idea or just done as a joke for the rehearsal footage (I hope).

He's done some good Paso's in the past, Laila's springs to mind. I know he's given up but I hope he's not going to do another comedy sketch.

  • Comment number 6.

Had a bad day at the shop needed something to lift my evening and this week's dances have done just that.

Some couples who I have wanted to shine since the series began will finally get the chance to let their sprout their dancing wings and fly and let's hope they don't make a meal of it and crash and burn.

Anita and Robin finally after 2 Latins are getting a Ballroom to do I am looking forward to this and what a music number to dance it to a Frank Sinatra song I'm thinking tuxedo for Robin and beautiful ball gown for Anita and she does glamour extremely well favourite of the weekend this one will be for me this will be their chance to shine.

Chelsee and Pasha another ballroom I'm looking forward to seeing to Quickstep and a great fast paced song to dance it to Sing, Sing, Sing used at least 3 times in routines another couple who will shine defvuitley my 2nd favourite of the weekend.

Holly and Artem will have to pull out all the stops in their Vienesse Waltz feel the love and the passion of their routine which I'm sure they will provided personal problems stay at the door.

He has wowed us with two great dances but can everyone's favourite boy next door Jason Donovan do a Paso Doble the jury is out on that one question is can Jason be masterful and agrressive the elements the Paso asks for his theatre and TV background makes me doubt it but we will see on Saturday.

Yes and Russell Grant they just keeping coming up with great routines for this fine man a Tango and seriously I think Russell will carry it off I do have faith in him the public like him as I do as well and I hope he does well.

These are my favourites so far will offer a proper assessment tomorrow night as I'm working Saturday and Anton and Nancy their dance their music choice another comedy routine to cover over the fact Nancy can't dance another car crash production enough said.

    Keeeep Dancing

And ojtocs Anton leaving you speechless is that a positive as in he will do well and get great marks kind of speechless.

Or the other kind the negative as in they will fall flat on their faces the chereography will be ridiculous to many props rubbish marks bottom two saved again kind of speechless

  • Comment number 8.

Best Routines Of The Weekend for me will be.

    Robin and Anita
    Chelsee and Pasha
Jason and Kristina(jury is still out though)
    Alex and James
    Holly and Artem
    Harry and Aliona
    Robbie and Ola

    Best Of The Rest

    Lulu and Brendan
    Audley and Natalie
    Rory and Erin
    Russell and Flavia

And are they still here running amok round the dancefloor routine

    Nancy and Anton

  • Comment number 9.

Russell wasn't dancing as 'a lady' Ian, he was dancing as a follower. Get up to date man - you should know better.

  • Comment number 10.

Can anyone tell me is kara and artem split up. would be really disappointed in this as they make a great couple.

  • Comment number 11.

Could anyone tell me what Paso Doble step Aton and Nancy are attempting in their rehearsal footage? Looks very much like a lift to me! wonder what Craig will knock off for that? Surely Anton isn't going down the comedy route yet again is he? not to the beautiful music of 'Rodrigo's Guitar Concerto - the mind boggles!!!

  • Comment number 12.

    Hi flatfeet,

I was wondering that myself in fact I've been wondering what dance routine they are going to do and if that lift is anything to go by it wouldn't surprise me if they go down the comedy route again.

I mean we had a dance with no substance or emotion from Team Nanton last week that's my name for them and this week I would assume tried and tested play it for laughs.

And hopefully Team Nanton Car Crash Productions will be going home this week.

    Goodnight and Keeeeep Dancing

It's a shame that I can't watch the video as I live in the wrong area...

I'm looking forward to Alex' and James' Rumba. James' Rumba were always great and I think Alex' will do as well as the other before.

  • Comment number 14.

Moira C @10 - Artem and I are friends on Facebook!!!!!!!!! and he left the following message yesterday. Team Kartem is alive and kicking!!!!!

"Had an amazing day rehearsals where great photo shoot is gonna look amazing! and now on my way home to my other half;)"

  • Comment number 15.

CAN SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO ALL THE BLOGS AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE? They have been missing at least since yesterday.

  • Comment number 16.

okay - back up and running! Thank you!!

  • Comment number 17.

Still not working for me. I have signed out and re-loaded the page. :-(

  • Comment number 18.

This recent training is really looking good for most of the couples but what on earth was Anton trying to do?? big big let down

  • Comment number 19.

    Hi Fergal

Would have made a great Team Name 'Nanton' - sad it looks like they are dropping the Team Names for this series - have you any theories why they have chosen to do this?

Yes hopefully Nancy will go this week, but could be Audley and Natalie I fear - hopefully she won't be too upset as it will give her plenty of time to start writing her best selling book 'my experiences on Strictly' in time for a Christmas launch!

  • Comment number 20.

2lipsAmsterdam how wonderful to hear positive news from Artem instead of negative press reports. Do hope Kara will be able to get along some Saturday nights to support Team Hartem.

  • Comment number 21.

A bit of hairspray to control her hair plus a bit of starch in her arms and then maybe I wouldn't be distracted from Nancys dancing.

  • Comment number 22.

Fergal @7 Speechless... when I saw Nancy's hand on Anton's bum!
I think it will be a disaster but perhaps a funny one ;)

Flatfeet @20 I think Kara goes every week... she just doesn't sit in the audience.
That's the word on Digispy :)

  • Comment number 23.

Just taken a look of footage for rehersals so far - loved Lulu - Robbie and Russell and Erins partner whose name I cannot remember by move!!. I must admit that when I dance with my teacher I always change half way through as the lead just as Russell does with Flavia this week and it does work - All the best to everyone Helenxxxxx

  • Comment number 24.

    Hi all,

Could not agree more with you flatfeet about Team Hartem the press are never happy unless they are printing negative stories to see newspapers blown out of all proportions.

And ojtocs I'm not surprised Nancy wanted to grab hold of Anton's bum I mean his rear is hot property these days considering he was voted Male Rear Of The Year 2011 at least she will have a lasting memory of when she leaves this week hopefully that she lovingly got to squeeze the bum of the Male Rear Of The Year 2011.

    Keeeeep Dancing

  • Comment number 25.

Looking again at rehearsal footage and notice Rory is beginning to look almost as camp as Russell in the cha cha!! Sadly think Alex could come unstuck with the Rumba this week it's such a slow dance so you can see clearly there's no hip action but sure she will be safe - Anita not looking bad at all in their American Smooth - interesting to see how the three lifts will work out - It's going to be tough for Audley having to do a foxtrot the most difficult ballroom dance of them all. Harry said on ITT he was concerned about the waltz, but thought he was looking good. Artem said he's pleased with way his and Holly's Viennese Waltz is going and it could turn out to be Holly's best dance so far. The same with Lulu she looks comfortable with the Samba if she is able to remember her steps. Robbie looking good with the jive and he really does seem to be coming on in leaps and bounds - although still looks much happier dancing ballroom rather than latin. Words just fail looking at Nancy and Anton they have decided to play it completely for laughs which is a shame as everyone else is trying their best. Russell and Flavia working hard on tango and looking good, everyone loves Russell so they could well stay in a long time after other's who dance better than him have left. Chelsee and Pasha looking great in the quickstep and love the jazz music they are dancing to.

  • Comment number 26.

They say if you've got it, flaunt it! but incase of Artem he's just annoying me, he flaunt his body every (*****ng) week. (Since week 1)

  • Comment number 27.

Poor Anton, He doesn't seem to be enjoying himself with Nancy. She seems to do 'plodding' steps. At least he had fun with Ann W..and she did try to do proper dance steps.
There is a lot of blossoming talent this series. Almost anyone could win!

  • Comment number 28.

hello! it me hippo... ha ha ! I don't think Nancy will win she don't try hard enough.
I was shock to see Dan out as i was hoping for Nancy out arrhhhhhh!!!! but my darling Brendan still in so phew!!! hope lulu do better tomorrow!!!!
    holly good!
    Jason fab!
Anita quite good for her age!
    harry fab!
oh Robbie well..good but his hair need CUT!!
don't know about the rest of them sorry!
    Nancy is NO>NO

  • Comment number 29.

I don't understand this year's format - how can you compare the contestants when they're all doing different dances? Still hoping for the return of the dance-off

  • Comment number 30.

Evening Strictlyites! Thanks for all the comments about the training. It is the only way I am able to know how our teams are doing. It is hard not to be able to join in......sigh!!!!!

Got Robbie and Ola's tune in my head at the moment. It sounds like it could be a fantastic Jive song.

Cant wait to see Russells tango tomorrow. He posts a couple of times a day on FB. I sent him a comment today and he replied!!! Really appreciate the time he takes to contact his supporters!

Ophiuschus @26 - honey....as you say if you've got it flaunt it and he can flaunt it in front of me anytime anywhere - so says one of Team Kartems staunchist supporters!!!

Reading all the comments about Team Nanton (love the name - but hopefully only until Sunday). Is it a comedy/tragedy/disaster movie???? It sounds like its a hands over the eyes moment but with your fingers spread.

Okay gonna cook so I can sit down to ITT. Until later. Keeeeep dancing....

  • Comment number 31.

Fairly sure Anton was only doing that move as a joke....at least I really hope so!!!

  • Comment number 32.

Hi, I am so missing Strictly, on holiday visiting my son in Atlanta and BBC will not allow me to watch any footage here!!!!!! soooooooooo disappointed. Ann

  • Comment number 33.

Flatfeet @19, loads of us were asking this question and the BBC has not even had the courtesy to reply. After all we're only the license payers....
lakeberry@ 29, so agree, much better when just two dances per week. American smooth should be an end of series number, as should Paso, such a difficult dance not to make funny, Am sure we all remember Chis Parker's cape...and not in a good way either

  • Comment number 34.

They are all looking good but i am really looking forward to Russell and Flavia as well as Anton and Nancy they may not be the best but they sure are entertaining

  • Comment number 35.

ojtocs I'm so pleased to hear that, but it would be nice to see Kara clapping her partner on out the front occasionally - although I understand she's in a difficult situation being the strictly champion as well.

  • Comment number 36.

Absolutely love the music that Pasha has chosen for their quickstep - so great to have this Benny Goodman superb jazz classic, very fast as he continues to challenge Chelsee. It would be good to hear more of this this 1930's/40's music as well as the modern stuff - how about some Glen Miller one week especially for one of the professional dances.
