Rory and Erin leave Strictly Come Dancing

Post categories:

BBC Strictly Nora | 19:07 UK time, Sunday, 23 October 2011

Tonight Rory Bremner became the third celebrity to leave Strictly Come Dancing 2011. On Saturday Rory and his professional partner Erin Boag performed a Cha Cha which failed to leave an impression on the judges, with Len stepping in on Rory's political comedy territory, to remark; 'Well you're like the government there is a lot going on and not all of its good."

Tonight after the combined scores of the judges and the public vote were counted, Rory found himself in the bottom two with Nancy, before the result that Rory was leaving was announced.

We were the first on the floor to film these exclusive video reactions from some surprised celebrities and professional dancers...

I am so sad that Rory is the one to go. I had hoped he would be in till the end. He is so entertaining! I'll miss him.

  • Comment number 2.

Its the first time I have posted to the blog and will be the last time ! How can Nancy stay in Strictly and Rory be voted out???
Nancy cannot dance - end of.
I wont be watching any more of the programme - its not based on dancing anymore - its a farce !!

  • Comment number 3.

    They should have stayed

  • Comment number 4.

Sad to see Rory go, but I would have been sad to see any of them go. But that is the nature of the show.

So happy Chelsee got through, she reminds me of the girl that won it a few years ago with Matthew Cutler. Whatever happened to her?

  • Comment number 5.

Its so so disgusting and so wrong. This is so disgusting and makes me so angry. Its a dance competition not a drinking competition. so angry

  • Comment number 6.

Sterling effort from Rory - undoubtedly one of the shyest and most reserved Scots on the telly. The dancing fairly got him firmed up and fit - I'm sure there was a lot more good dancing in him. I'd never have believed he would have danced on live TV before SCD. And his quickstep was ace for an untrained tall lad. Well done for trying.

  • Comment number 7.

Please own up somebody - who is voting for that woman?

  • Comment number 8.

Absolutly gutted here we go again a repeat of last years fiasco

  • Comment number 9.

Nancy should have gone. Rory should be dancing next week. V disappointed.

  • Comment number 10.

Surely this proves that the dance off must come back. It was much more exciting when they did that. Now the results show is just padded out. Nancy should be gone!

  • Comment number 11.

First time I've posted a comment too ...and agree Rory should have stayed and Nancy gone ...can't believe she's still there!

  • Comment number 12.

bring back the dance off with the judges deciding who should be voted off , at least the better dancers got a chance to stay longer. rory should never have went tonight who is voting for nancy !!!

  • Comment number 13.

Rory and Erin - they were too good to go out tonight. What a shame!

  • Comment number 14.

First Time commenting too: Nancy just cannot dance,Russell is this years Ann Widdicombe substitute, and will be kept in past his sell by date, and talking of sell by dates, I see Bruce is still telling 50 year old jokes to amuse himself, its time he went, and Anton Du Beke take his place, much more entertaining, and ITT, why Zoe Ball, all she does is shout, much better with Claudia.

  • Comment number 15.

I cant believe Rory has gone ahead of Nancy, Nancy cant dance, and doesnt seem to listen to any advice from Anton....I feel sorry for Anton I bet he tells her things and she thinks she knows better and does her own thing!! you can see by the look on his face he is surprised at some of the moves she comes up with which is obviously not rehearsed!! I feel very sorry for Rory he wasnt that bad, maybe not his type of dance . I also felt so sorry for Alex but she must overcome her nerves, everyone is trying to boost her confidence but she still has no belief in herself... if she isnt more determined to put on a brave face, she will be out sooner than necessary she has got it all great looking a good mover if she could only have faith in herself or learn to act...

  • Comment number 16.

I'm going to stop watching the Sunday night show..its too ridiculous to keep that Nancy woman in ... no-one can be voting for her its just a fix . I have always really loved Strictly but now its just not the same or its not as good as it used to be

  • Comment number 17.

Hey - now Erin's out, why can't she be the guest judge? Just sayin'.

Not that I'm happy they're out - Rory had an adorable quality to the way he danced and the way he talked about dancing, you could tell he loved it and wanted to get better... and he was!

  • Comment number 18.

Yet another newbie posting......so sad for Rory what a sweet guy, (who new?)....seen lots of people saying bring back the dance off, I must agree,
then that dreadful woman would have gone last week.

On a seperate note, I was disgusted with Len on Saturdays show, what he said to James was so arrogant, I think he should be made to apologise!
(but I wont be holding my breath)

  • Comment number 19.

Rory, should not have been voted off, what are the voters thinking? Nancy, no offence to Anton, should have went off the first week, she's surprisingly still here! We need a dance off!

  • Comment number 20.

please please please, anton its a dance show, dance and takee it serriously or leave. your fooling about is not funny any more, you just look desparate...

  • Comment number 21.

Also, Lulu is so cute! I don't care if I'm 40-odd years younger than her, she is darn adorable!

  • Comment number 22.

Feel very sorry for Rory but I found him hard to watch as he had an air of desperation about him, like this was his chance to make the big time again.
Nancy is a complete hoot, has a great sense of humour and doesnt take herself seriously, in consequence is brilliant to watch
Please stop voting for Russell I cant be the only one who finds him odious & fake.

  • Comment number 23.

I fail to understand how Nancy Dell'Olio continues to be a contestant. To see Rory Bremner dismissed as her inferior just beggars belief. I for one feel like giving up watching this show as it is steadily becoming a farce!

  • Comment number 24.

Please, please, please, bring back the Dance Off! No way would have Rory gone as Nancy is a terrible dancer. She seems to have no sense of balance - who is voting for her?

  • Comment number 25.

wow what a night, nancy you need to go, looking yourself up and down is a bit vane, empathy for the other dancers would go down better in the publics eyes.........and who was the guest female siger this evening, fantastic

  • Comment number 26.

Gutted! I am a huge Erin and Anton fan, and Rory and Erin should not have left tonight. Nuff said!

  • Comment number 27.

I find it incredible that Nancy is still here. Dan and Rory are much better dancers and so much more pleasant! Nancy can't dance and should have been out the first week!! Poor Anton, Nancy this year and Ann last year. At least Ann had a sense of humour. I think the public should take a reality check and keep the best dancers in the competition. After all, it's a dance competition not a popularity contest. Mind you, find it difficult to believe that Nancy is more popular than Dan or Rory in the first place!

  • Comment number 28.

congratulations to erin and rory, we really enjoyed watching you improve each week, and the clips of you both in training during the week, I will not complain about who should have been voted of this week, as Strictly always seems to be most annoying in who keeps getting through, when performers who deserve to stay have to leave. But in our humble opinion you definately deserved to be there next week. you did well, be proud.

  • Comment number 29.

Looks as though slightly 'better-dancing' celebs (i.e. people who could possibly have improved over the coming weeks) are being sacrificed in order to keep up the 'comedy' element in the show. I therefore want to know - is SCD a dancing competition with entertainment, or a comedy show with dancing.

  • Comment number 30.

I understand and agree with the frustration about Rory going out. Nancy undoubtedly should have gone but what is it such a big shock? If you look at the judges leaderboard you would have to say no because Nancy was the only person who got less than Rory with Russell matching Rorys score so it was bottom verses 2nd from bottom. No big shock there.

As I predicted following Dans demise last week Nancy found herself in the bottom 2 again (even though it didn't result in her exit) so if last years pattern continues Nancy will continue to have a lack of support and it will at some point before too long be too little for her to survive.

In fact I think the results we are getting this series and (to a slightly lesser extent) last series prove we don't need the dance off. When the dance off was in force it caused more problems than it solved because the public didn't like losing their total right to decide who stays and who goes and responded by making the judges pick between 2 good dancers on plenty of occasions.

  • Comment number 31.

As an ex-dancer I find tonight's results a complete farce...Nancy has no dance quality at all, despite what has been said. Bring back the dance off or archive the whole show....Rory was not the best dancer but he at least gave it his all....Nancy should go back to where she came from and never be seen again...Anton...I thought you were better than this...give up now.

  • Comment number 32.

I am so sorry to see Rory and Erin go.

I found Len's comment about the fact they they shouldn't be in the bottom two laughable - didn't he look at the Judge's Scoreboard - they put him there! Perhaps he was still smarting from his spats with the other pros earlier in the evening!

  • Comment number 33.

Rory may not have been the best Dancer but he wasn't the worst. Someone else should have definately gone tonight. it's not just about entertainment.

  • Comment number 34.

I think its now time to BRING BACK THE DANCE OFF

  • Comment number 35.

Ok I really enjoy the Saturday show and I think the celebrities are really good (well most of them ) but the Sunday show is a FARCE !!, I am fed up with all the fill ins between the results because that is all it is, the daft chats with the judges,
"Lens Lens !! and the silly scenes for next week are just totally unneccessary I`m gutted that Rory has gone, :( he might not have been the best but he was still entertaining, sorry Anton love you but !!!!!
I also thought what Craig said to Alex was very cruel, I know that is the way he is but sometimes he should think of the persons feelings !.
Right I have had my rant still love the show for all that

  • Comment number 36.

I said I wasn't going to blog this year, but I just can't let this go without my two penny worth.

It was the wrong couple who left - Nancy & Anton should have gone!

Rory you were really entertaining and I second what Erin said about keeping your chin up because you have nothing to be ashamed of - you were brilliant. So very sad to see you go!

I hope next week the right couple will leave - namely Nancy & Anton.

  • Comment number 37.

I can't believe that Rory has gone. He was the most improved dancer this week. Nancy should go. She is not a dancer and is far to full of herself!

  • Comment number 38.

I am shocked that Erin and Rory have been voted off with the least votes and I thought that Nancy and Anton had to go because they were the worst performers, no disrespect to Anton, who I have great respect and he is a true gentleman. I saw Nancy counting to her dance steps and movements which was worse than some of the mistakes that some of the other dancers made. Rory did a good job on his cha cha cha with Erin and wowed the audience with his hips action which is essential part of the dance. It just doesn't make sense that he had to go as he made a brilliant Fred Astaire "Top Hat" dance last week with Erin, who looks like my Slimming World Consultant, Pamela Crossen. I would love to see Erin dance again next week as she is lovely. Chelsea Healey was awesome with the quickstep with Pasha. Unbelievable dance steps. In my view it does not seem right that one of the best dancers has to be voted off in favour of a someone who is not as good. I must admit the standard of the competition has been excellent so far. I look forward to next week.

  • Comment number 39.

Nancy and Anton should have left weeks ago- its absolutely ridiculous!

So sad that Rory left! I will never forget that Quickstep!

I will Miss him and his amazing dance ethic- and he was getting so much better. Nancy is just being thrown around- I wish she would just be thrown out the competition!

  • Comment number 40.

I find Alex dull as dishwater and totally insipid.

  • Comment number 41.

Ridiculous that Nancy is still in the competition! Just makes the programme a joke. Who is voting for her, I dont even know who she is! Puts me right off watching the show when this sort if thing happens.

  • Comment number 42.

I knew Rory as a student at the British Institute in Paris circa 1982. He was as much fun then as he is on screen now, and I'm absolutely GUTTED he's left Strictly so soon!

  • Comment number 43.

the wrong couple went out tonight and i agree they should bring back the dance off. Be proud rory you were not the worst dancer. come on people get nancy of this show before some other good dancer gets the boot

  • Comment number 44.

really do not understand why rory and erin went tonight. at least he showed signs of improvement and effort. He had a chance of becoming quite mabye not good enough to win but still to staying in for a few more weeks. it ridiculous that Nancy is still in at this point. who is voting for her!!! she cannot dance she has been thrown around the dance floor for 4weeks by Anton. She has no rythmn or ability whatsover. BRING BACK THE DANCEOFF! How many more more talented constestant (which is everyone) will be sacrificed to keep her on the show!!!!

  • Comment number 45.

I love Strictly, but I think after the last couple of years, they should bring back the dance off. It really is the only way to keep good dancers in, although we all know it's not just a dancing contest.

  • Comment number 46.

It's entertainment... perhaps he should have done a few more impersonations that's what he is good at...not dancing

  • Comment number 47.

A ridiculous result which denigrates the whole programme. What's the point of having a dance competition if the outcome isn't based on the ability to dance?

  • Comment number 48.

When making comparison with the French show, I can only praise the English one which is far more professional than the French one. That being said, I am very disappointed about the way Strictly is being ruled by the success of each contestants and not by their dancing habilities.. It is not the first time this has happened and I think it is sad that some celebreties keep going on only because the public loves them and not for their dancing habilities. I very much enjoy your show but I must say it is getting more and more evident that it is a celebrity contest and not a dancing contest.

  • Comment number 49.

who keeps voting for nancy its not fair that the better dancers are having to leave to keep her in she needs to go time is up and was on week 1

  • Comment number 50.

Alex - you were great. I hope you are shown this comment. Well done tonight.

  • Comment number 51.

@47 Nortisbest: Maybe cause it is an entertainment show first and foremost.

If it was a true competition it would have an odd number of judges and the public would not have a say in the result. And it would be on at 11:00pm on Wednesday and have 3 viewers.

  • Comment number 52.

I am absolutely gutted about Rory leaving tonight so much so this is my first post anywhere! He was a real Cutie and was improving so much. What is the nation thinking!

  • Comment number 53.

Alex is a lovely person but not a great dancer . The strictly producers are very clever to put one Welsh celebrity in each series knowing the people of Wales will vote on mass for one of their own. James Jordan will do his best to play safe and keep her in hold and she will get to the semi final at the expense of better dancers.

  • Comment number 54.

Poor poor Erin and Rory. I feel really sad for them. I think Erin is fab anyway but also thought Rory was so so lovely. Really sorry to see them go. Give Erin and Anton celebs with a real chance next year.....PLEASE. I would so love to see them both stay on the competition for much longer.

  • Comment number 55.

Please please bring back the dance off, the sunday night show is terrible and the better dancers would stay in.

  • Comment number 56.

Really sad to see Erin & Rory go, but even more disappointed by the personally scathing comments made by Craig about Alex. The judges are there to provide constructive criticism, and there was nothing remotely constructive about his comments. They were personal and rude. I realise Craig is paid to be objectionable, but it really is unnecessary to be rude. Provide pointers for development, by all means, but stop being unkind.

  • Comment number 57.

Hard to believe that Rory has been voted off and Nancy is here for another week, is she the new John Sergeant of Strictly, I thought this was a dancing competition and as such then Nancy such start to join in.

  • Comment number 58.

very dissappointed with this show everybody can see that rory was much better than nancy. can't believe people thought she was better. nancy must GO

  • Comment number 59.

Apologies for the length of this, but please bear with me. I've done some playing with the maths. Rory must have got a combined total less than Nancy's, or equal to it but with a lower public score. So Nancy must have been at least one place higher than Rory on the public vote, and maybe more. But Russell was on the same Judge's score as Rory, so must have scored more than Nancy or he would have been in the bottom two in her place.

After that, it depends how much higher in the public voting list Nancy was over Rory. However, when playing with figures it's very quick that one needs to have one of the top 4 coming bottom of the public vote to make possible what happened. This seems unlikely (though not impossible), meaning that the situation at the bottom seems relatively easy to get the gist of.

It looks to me that Rory had to have come bottom of the public vote. Terrible shame, since he came over as a genuine bloke clearly enjoying the challenge and generally doing well.

Nancy was most likely to have come next to bottom, or maybe tenth in the public vote. For her to have come higher, someone like Robbie, Jason or Anita would have had to come next to bottom. Again, not impossible, but I'm guessing not.

To avoid being in the bottom two, Russell must have come above Nancy. That means that Audley, Alex or Lulu could have come next to bottom and still escaped. As they were all on the same judge's score, it doesn't matter mathematically.

So I've arbitrarily assessed the bottom of the public vote as being Rory 1, Audley 2, Nancy 3, Lulu 4, Russell 5, Alex 6. This would mean that the total points scores would be Rory 7 (and out), Nancy 8, everyone else higher.

Although there is a lot of talk about losing the dance-off, another change has been made in generating the final leader board, and that was how the positional points were allocated. Originally, it was done in the same way as most other competitions I know of, in that where there is a tie in points, the upper position is shared, and the lower tied positions are dispensed with, e.g. 1st, 2x equal 2nd, 4th. Now, however, it gives equal positions to ties and then moves on 1 position, e.g. 1st, 2x equal 2nd, 3rd.

I believe the result of this has been (possibly intentionally) to make it easier for the bottom-placed couple on the judges' leader board to survive, and that is what we are now seeing as commonplace. Playing about with possible figures, I've come to the conclusion that if Rory was indeed bottom, if Nancy was two places higher than him in the public vote then Rory was doomed no matter what. The public gets what the public wants. On the other hand, if Nancy was only one place above Rory, under the old system (or even a slightly different variation where the points from the two positions tied are averaged out), Nancy would have gone.

If the judges are to have any real point, surely that is what we should be going back to. Or, indeed, the dance-off. Otherwise, don't bother allocating any points on their leader board, make it a simple public vote. Then we all know exactly where we are - Big Brother.

  • Comment number 60.

Just goes to show Rory should have totally let go and given it everything to compete with someone like Nancy who has the public vote but isn't such a good dancer. Hate to say it but I think the hip gyrating turned people off Rory's Cha cha, somehow he looked a bit sheepish and I felt uncomfortable watching it. Perhaps the choreography played a part in his departure.

  • Comment number 61.

Gutted Rory has gone, so sad when you can see improvement week on week and I was really looking forward to see his next ballroom. I'm a massive Anton fan but I'm sorry, Nancy should have gone.

  • Comment number 62.

So sad to see Rory and Erin go, he was much better again this week, and learning all the time. Nancy on the other hand has all the dancing ability of a sack of potatoes, and frankly the way Anton tosses her around, she looked like one too. Please can she go next week?!

  • Comment number 63.

Ken, don't understand a word of what you're saying but full marks for doing it.

  • Comment number 64.

I completely disagree with Twinkletoes' comment! Reading all the comments, the conclusion is that you must be the only one thinking Nancy is a hoot! She is so full of herself and should be out of the competition.
Russell, however, is a hoot. He knows he is not the best dancer but tries very hard and he is having a good time. Nancy thinks she is wonderful when in fact she is a miserable character!

  • Comment number 65.

Interesting point 53 which would explain a lot (Gavin/Joe) but are you really saying that the Welsh are that tribal and don't care about the dancing?

  • Comment number 66.

No result is a surprise given that the voting public, allegedly, decides. It's BBC light entertainment, not a dance contest.
Len is the rudest judge, not Craig. The whole cheeky chappy persona soon disappears when anyone calls his bluff.
Anton's not worn his dancing shoes for a few series, he's just being groomed as a comedian, so he's given the worst partners.
Hate seeing Nancy and Russell continue, but will continue to watch just for the pleasure of seeing the good dances.
    PS. Come on Robbie!
PPS. Anyone else think Anita is being consistently overmarked?
PPPS. Zoe to replace Tess next series?

  • Comment number 67.

So sorry to see Rory and Erin go. Rory's lovely comments about the Strictly experience made me cry. They shouldn't have gone.

  • Comment number 68.

My first comment for the year, but it seems to me that people are not voting for Nancy at all (why would you; she can't dance and she comes across as being quite spoilt and officious), but because they like Anton, and maybe feel sorry for him for having another awful partner. Well, just my opinion, but if you like Anton, the biggest favour you could do him is to get him and Nancy voted off. He seems really uncomfortable with Nancy; I don't think he is enjoying the partnership at all. At least with Widders last year, they did genuinely seem to have some fun. With Nancy, it must be like having to put up with a spoilt teenager all day; she doesn't seem to be making any effort, and in reherasals Anton looks hard pushed to maintain his patience. I fear for his blood pressure. Put the man out of his misery and let him go back to what he does best, i.e. dancing with the lovely Erin. Now that she is sadly gone, perhaps they can put together a lovely exhibition dance for us later in the series.

So sad that Rory went; he was one of my favourites. He could not have won, but he did not deserve to go so early either.

    Please, people, no more Nancy.

  • Comment number 69.

The Teddy on the couch has heard the news of Rory leaving strictly. In a conference with all the other bears they came to the conclusion that Nancy should have gone but Rory would also not make it to the final so it does not matter. They like Anton and for him they are plaesed that he stays on for next week. The Teddy on the couch will be shivering from behind the couch in next week haloween show. Sleep well.

  • Comment number 70.

I felt sorry for Alex; she looked very uncomfortable with her dance routine, she lacked confidence . I wonder if the revealing cat suit was too daring for such a self-conscious lass? I feel she would have danced better in a more comfortable dress of her choice. To be in front of so many people in a costume that she felt did not suit her would definitely affect her confidence with the dance. Who decides on what they will be wearing? Yes Ola could and does wear revealing catsuits and daring dresses, but this does not appeal to every celebrity/dancer.

  • Comment number 71.

    Agree with 30. Peter Jephcott

    43. MARY and 59. Ken And those claiming the Dance Off would have got rid of Nancy fail to consider the extra voting that may have taken place to keep them out of the bottom two (as has been seen in the past). Leaving the judges with two better couples to chose from. The current system is fair and transparent.

Whilst I am sorry to see Rory leave is the result really more than a week or so early in the grand scheme of things?

  • Comment number 72.

I agree with you Robert, that was one V-neck too far for poor Alex, the catsuit didn't need that if it already had the almost-there lace on the rest of it. It looked lovely on her though.

  • Comment number 73.

My first time post like some others!

I can not believe that Nancy is still in the competition - the public who are voting for her, must actually be voting for Anton! I doubt that I will be bothered to watch it again!

I understand that some celebs who are loved by the public will be kept in the show (and they will eventually be voted off as the good dancers shine) just to make it an "entertainment" show but this result was totally outrageous!! I didn't even know who she was until my hubby told me who she was!

SCD was one of the celeb programs I enjoyed but the continual "booing" at the judges when the audience disagrees with what they say or the marks they give, the rude remarks from the judges themselves (and not just Craig as everybody knows he is the Simon Cowell of dance judging), the over marking of some contestants and finally the ridiculous outcome of a dance pair who are the worst ever, are allowed to stay in the competition over someone who has far more talent.

Enough said - I will get off my soap box and take an exit stage left!

  • Comment number 74.

Yet again this is the BBC playing with the viewers votes, so that people keep ringing in, voting for their favorite and to keep nancy out. They have done this so many times in the past its getting old hat now and predictable. If I am wrong lets have the BBC publicising the voting figures, bet they won't. In previous years I used to email the programe requesting the figures but they were never forthcoming. They programme dosn't need these cheap shots. Play fair auntie Beeb, Nancy is rubbish. Who are you palnning to oust next week, Anita, Harry or even Holly maybe?

  • Comment number 75.

Nancy is an insult to Strictly in more ways than just by her bad dancing. She is delusional, saying she thinks she is dancing well, not bothering to hear the judges out and acting like a spoilt teenager during training. Anton isn't being tough enough. Get the whip out Anton!

  • Comment number 76.

the public are voting for Anton not Nancy! Some of the professionals are now more well known than their partners and have become celebrities in their own right. This results in them getting a lot more votes.

  • Comment number 77.

Well, I am not surprised that Nancy is still there, as I mentioned earlier in the second week there will always be one clown in each series and she is the one..... once again don't be surprised if she is still in for the 5th, 6th, 7th week.....
Remember she is there because Anton who has a string of fans and who are voting for him and not for Nancy. That is the reality of Strictly!!!!

  • Comment number 78.

Poor Anton, did you see his face? If you thought Rory looked disapointed in being voted off, it was nothing to the look of disapontment on Anton's when he reailized he has to dance with Nancy for another week. Just when he thought it was safe to go back in the studio! Bad luck Anton, maybe next week. Come on People do him a favour and DON'T vote for Nancy, Let a good dancer go through for a change. It is a Dancing comp after all.

  • Comment number 79.

It's not Nancy's fault if people keep voting for Anton> Personally I can' stand him and think he's been horrible to her. She can't dance but he's not helping by dragging her around like a sack of spuds.

  • Comment number 80.

Sorry to see Rory go, but I would have been gutted to see Russel go. Why don't the judges ever mention his dancing? He does all the steps, he is remarkably light on his feet, he is confident enough to add his trade mark flourishes and he NEVER seems to moan about how hard it is. I may have to start voting for the first time ever just to keep him in the show. If he doesnt reach the final I'm never watching the show again ! I just love his pure joy at doing this show and Ive never seen Flavia having so much fun either. He must be a joy for her to work with after some of the moaning minnies she has put up with before. Russel just makes my weekend. p.s. what was up with Len? he was so grumpy!

  • Comment number 81.

I am so, so sorry to see Rory go - I think he is a truly lovely, genuine person and I warmed to him enormously during his time on Strictly. I loved his quickstep and I think he gave it his all. A totally endearing person who didn't deserve to leave the show so soon :-(.

I agree with Lindysergent's observation that Anton doesn't look AT ALL comfortable with Nancy and that he's not enjoying the partnership - last year you could see that he was GENUINELY enjoying the Widdecombe Experience!

Nancy is awful - so physically unattractive and I can't find anything endearing about her personality either. She seems to be delusional about the fact that the public 'love her'..er, no, they love ANTON... I do hope she goes soon.

On a different topic - totally disagree with Alesha's 10 for Harry - quite ridiculous. WHY does the BBC keep on employing her when it is clear that an awful lot of people don't like her as a judge? At least someone must have worked on her a lot - I see she's stopped saying, 'You was great' AT LAST!

Listen people, Nancy is still in the show because the great British public like to annoy the judges. Its our dark sense of humour. They are not voting for Anton (who can easily get on your nerves with his comments). They are voting to be funny. They did it with John Sargeant, they do it every year. In fact I think Im right in saying that the public put Julien wotsisname into the final back in the early days!

I am gutted that Rory & Erin have gone. It's a real shame when you can see the potential of the celebrity & how much they are enjoying being part of the show. They certainly left too soon!

Rory out? Oh please, this must be a fix. How can anyone think that Nancy can dance - Craig's description of her efforts last week were spot on.

  • Comment number 85.

I wish Claudia would stop asking if people are surprised to be in the bottom two. Last week Dan said he was in the bottom three on the judges’ leaderboard and therefore it wasn’t a surprise. This week Rory was in the bottom three. The scoring system makes it easy for those higher up the judges’ leaderboard to end up going home. I knew Rory was in the danger zone maybe enough others didn’t realise it. In fact this week there were 6 all within 4 points at the bottom.

I am disappointed that Rory has gone, but at least I voted to keep him. I don’t think he was as good this week as last week when he was fourth on the leaderboard. I would like Nancy to go. I also feel sorry for Anton and get the impression (as others have commented) that he is not enjoying Nancy as much as he enjoyed having Ann as a partner last year.

However I really enjoyed Russell this week – the campest Tango ever, even more camp than Jason’s last week!

I agree that the standard this year is particularly good and assuming that Nancy and Russell are not going home yet for a few weeks it will be hard to see someone go in their place each week. Each dancer has to try to ensure they get high enough scores from the judges not to be in the bottom two, one bad week and they could be out.

Just a comment on Ken’s posting - the allocation of scores was changed so the public could vote off the higher placed dancers as one year it was mathematically impossible to vote off the couple with the most judges’ votes!

I agree with dazzin I think Anita is being over marked.

I think Nancy's stay is due to in part people finding her entertaining, but mostly because of viewers' sympathy for Anton.

It has been said hundreds of times that he is the best dancer & receives the worst partners. Do people simply want him to do well after nine series of keeping a smile and never complaining when it must be incredibly frustrating?

Is it this simple? I think it might be.

Bring back the dance off. It was so much more exciting and in the light of tonight's debacle, with the Italian Diva who considers herself more well known than her compatriots Pavarotti, Leonardi Da Vinci, et al , triumphing over the far more talented and humble and funny and loveable Rory Bremner, it was a much more fair way to decide who goes and who stays. Like them or loathe them, MOST of the time the judges can tell the wheat from the chaff. They would have ousted Nancy and given Anton a blessed release.

Can't wait to see your Jive Nancy! Best of luck!

I'm gutted! I just signed up to this website in order to leave a comment. Rory is a highly intelligent, funny and talented man, he was the first to admit he had never danced before and I thought he was superb... as the judges themselves said "elegance and panache". I had asked friends to tape the show as I'm not in the U.K I will now email them not to bother.... Please bring back the dance off so the show has some credibility again and I'll watch it next year... goodbye Rory you were brilliant!

This was an awful result. Nancy can not dance and it is not even funny watching her just and insult to Anton's talents. I agree with the majority of the comments here that the BBC should bring back the dance off - it was a much fairer way of assessing who was to leave the show. This is getting further away from a dance competition every season. Come on BBC listen to these comments and bring back the dance off.

  • Comment number 91.

Come on Guys it is time that woman went! She can't dance and doesn't appear to want to learn. I think people must be voting to keep Anton in. If that is the case I wish they wouldn't. I think he is fantastic, but not with her. I also agree with the comments that it is time for dear old Brucie to go, he appears to struggle to read the cue cards. Let us have Anton to compare

I have also just signed up to this website to leave a comment. Please bring back the dancing and the dance off. It's getting to be style over substance. Too mant props, too padded out (I have stopped watching the Sunday show) and too heavily weighted in favour of the less good dancers. It was far better when the results show was on a Saturday and the dancing was the star of the show.

    Love your comment 'nancymustgo'

alan_addison @47, thanx for making me laugh and I completely agree with you!
Don't agree with bringing back dance off 1) just backfires 2) judges have clear "favourites". Anita this year, Pammie last, every year in fact.
Please BBC end this charade of calling it the "Sunday Results Show." This is dishonest. The results are available Saturday night from about 10pm on the net. It's just silly, they must think us viewers are fools.

What a shame we loved Rory. who on earth is voting for Nancy or are they voting for the lovely Anton. She must go next week followed by Lulu

  • Comment number 96.

Strictly is an entertainment show, if it were pure dancing we would have more judges, and illegal lifts (!) would have you thrown out on your ear..This is not the first time that the "worst dancer" has made it through, John Seargeant/ Anne Widdecombe anyone?? There will always be surprises when the public has the deciding vote, remember Penny Lancaster & Tanya-from-footballers-wives ended up in the bottom two about 4 weeks in and they were both great!! As long as everyone tries their hardest nobody truly deserves to go home!
On a separate note, well done James for sticking up for Alex, that was a horrible comment from Craig- not all women are as confident as Kristina/Ola/Aliona dancing wearing a tissue, so calling some one SEXLESS is a disgraceful thing to say!!!

  • Comment number 97.

No one should be surprised at the results, the Mail on Sunday published a letter by someone saying Rory had gone!!! I nearly did not bother to watch but then would have missed that fantastic dance by Flavia and Vincent - agree the sunday show is full of bits of rubbish, bring back the dance off the right people will go then

  • Comment number 98.

I'm not trying to defend Nancy, but, what about Anton? he's a so called professional dancer. His job is to make the dance suit the celeb. Not make them look stupid. His routines are far too complicated, some of the other ladies would have problems with them. So knock Nancy by all means but put the blame where it also should be.

  • Comment number 99.

So sorry to see Rory go..... Two lovely ballroom dances; two respectable latins.
BUT it's not Nancy's fault that Anton's fans keep voting for them!

  • Comment number 100.

I have read all the above comments, and I agree Rory should not have gone, neither should have Dan. Nancy should be out, and the dance off brought back, then she would be gone! Poor Anton never gets a decent dancer
