Are Hull finally on the up again?

This weekend Hull City return to Eastlands to face Manchester City so stand by to see manager Phil Brown's half-time team talk from last season repeated ad-nauseam.

You can't forget it, it was the one where he delivered his half-time team talk to the players on the pitch.

It was Boxing Day 2008, and it was the moment it all went wrong for Hull City. At least that's what everybody says, so it must be true - mustn't it?

Cast you minds back - Hull had already won at Spurs and Arsenal, drawn at Liverpool and almost got a point at Old Trafford. They were sixth in the Premier League as they headed for Manchester City and were threatening to be the story of the season.

Perhaps a 4 - 1 defeat to Sunderland just before Christmas had burst the bubble?

Ancelotti ready for Man Utd challenge

For a man who must have been gasping for a cigarette and who told me he was tired before he even sat down, Carlo Ancelotti was a charming interviewee on Friday afternoon.

It was the first time I had interviewed the Italian away from the Match of the Day post-match interview room at Stamford Bridge.

How long you wait for a manager to emerge to meet the cameras is often dependent on the result; but Ancelotti is always prompt. Once his first priority, the post-match fag, has been dealt with he is usually straight out for the cameras.
