Welcome to the Sport editors' blog

Alex Kunawicz | 16:02 UK time, Thursday, 18 May 2006

We've launched this blog because we want to let you know what BBC Sport is doing, across all our outlets - whether it's on TV, radio, this website or any of our new media services.

We're also keen to hear your views and want people to engage and comment on what we have to say.

To find out more about all our contributors, check our about their author page.

Comments on this blog will be moderated during the hours of 9am-7pm on week days and 10am-8pm over the weekend.

Please keep your comments clean.

Comments which fail our house rules (listed below) will be removed.

And do try to keep your comments short, up to approximately 200 words, and relevant to the posts they answer. We will reject off-topic posts because we want to keep this blog focused. Readers looking for broader discussions on sport should visit our 606 pages.

If you see a post that is inappropriate, alert us by using the "complain about this post" link and we will act accordingly.

Please note that this button should not be used to simply disagree with a commenter. It is there to alert the moderators to a post you feel breaks the house rules in some way.

You should also be aware of our privacy policy.

For specific complaints please email us here.

Or for formal complaints go to the BBC’s official complaints website.

Blog basics

For the uninitiated, blogs (or weblogs) work like this:

The most recent posts appear at the top of the page. And at the bottom of every entry are two links:

• "Permalink" allows you to bookmark a particular post, or to send it by e-mail to a friend
• "Comments" invites you to offer your reaction to that entry, or read those of others
Comments are what set a blog apart from a traditional column because they create an immediate dialogue between the audience and author.
• “Bookmark with..” allows you to submit a post to your favourite community news-aggregation site, such as Digg, which ranks stories and links via a user-based ranking system.
• On the right-hand side of the blog are links to other rugby union sites & blogs. If you wish to be considered for inclusion, please email us here including a link.
• You will also see a calendar and a list of authors. Click on a date to see that day's items or on an author to view only his contributions to the blog.
• You can also use an RSS feed of this blog. Here's the help page.
