MacAulay and Co is coming live from Venue 150 (the Edinburgh International Conference Centre) for two weeks. Runner Fiona Nish shares her impressions of today's programme:

Today's MacAulay and Co had a truly diverse range of talented performers on display. The show started with the wonderful Abandoman - a two man Irish hip hop band who improvise their lyrics based entirely on contributions from the audience. So not only did we not know what the lyrics would be  - neither did they! What a way to kick off the show! Brilliant!

Next up was a hilarious interview with Jennifer Coolidge, star of Legally Blond and American Pie, whose presence on the sofa left Fred somewhat disarmed and flustered! However he did nevertheless manage to use his interview time productively with a quick lesson in how to pronounce Scotland's capital city - Edin'burgh', not 'borough!'

Fred with Jennifer Coolidge

The show climaxed with Fred chewing the fat with 3 big names of comedy - Tim Vine, Sean Hughes and David O'Doherty. Much of the hilarious banter centred round an allergic reaction Sean had incurred since starting his festival run this year, which had caused his forehead and eyes to swell up strangely.

What with Jennifer's spellbinding beauty in contrast to Sean's unsightly facial affliction, how Radio Scotland listeners across the length and breadth of the country must have wished that Fred's show was a TV, not radio show today! Great show!
