The biggest news online over the past 24-hours has of course been the break up of R.E.M. The seminal US band who paved the way for so many made the announcement on their official website.

And this is what Michael Stipe uploaded to his Tumblr.

* Jamie xx’s rework of Radiohead’s Bloom is on Stereogum
* Spotify CEO Daniel Ek confirmed they now have more than 2-million fully paid-up subscribers, while Facebook creator Mark Zuckerberg announced a number of new partnerships with the likes of Netflix and Rdio
* And the lost Daft Punk track, Drive, is now found on YouTube
