I do hope one of your worst films is A Most Wanted Man. I did not like this film for 2 reasons
) It was one of Phillip Seymour-Hoffmans last films. He did not do a terrible job, but the film stank to high heaven. A very poor epitaph to a very fine actor.
2) The film is based on a book by John Le Carre, one of my favourite writers. He wrote many other cinematic books, like Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy and The Spy Who Came In From The Cold. It was a great disappointment to see this really poor film.
What a great shame. Please make this your number one!

Whilst waiting for my family to come round for a knees up ! (could be a couple of hours)
Thought i would give my opinion on my best/worst fims of 2014
I then realized that i had already done this, because i am a big mouthed, opinionated git.., when it comes to films (most posters on here are) but are more eloquent than i could ever hope to be.
Which brings me to my point.....I spend a fortune at my local cinema, the cost of popcorn and coke for my grandkids, could pay off a third world country's deficit !
So i am not ashamed to say, that if i can watch the latest movie release on the internet....I will and not be too concerned about another Hollywood Prima Donna losing a few quid !
With a new year dawning, this is something that Mr Kermode and others should be addressing.
WISHING ALL MY FELLOW MOVIE FANS....A HAPPY NEW YEAR !

I'm surprised Sin City 2 is in there. Deliberately missed Sex Tape, Mrs Browns Boys and Grace but without doubt the worse film of 2014 is "Night Moves" the best two hour sleep I.ve had!
Just hope Blue Ruin, Joe & A Most Wanted Man are in the top 10.
An aside, saw "Birdman" in preview last night and if all the films of 2015 are of that standard its going to be a great year. Micheal Keaton is brilliant. Its a cliche but it is a must see film.

From comments 1 and 3, I really don't get why people give Kickass 2 such grief. Personally thought it was a lot better than the first one. But before anyone gets on my back, its probably because I didn't rate the first movie that highly so I had none of the expectations that caused you to be so disappointed.
Wondering what's in the bottom five. Pretty sure Transformers will make the cut with, judging by the trailers at least, Horrible Bosses 2 and Dumb and Dumber To (urgh) being likely.

Thank goodness I've missed (and have no intention to watch) all of these. I didn't like the original "Sin City" much so I wasn't up for the sequel... and I consider this blog a timely warning not to be tempted.
As one of the reviewers above mentioned... the poster was warning enough about "Sex Tape" on its own.
I have to say, one of the responders rather surprises me... two of his are in my top 10 of the year.
Just goes to show how subjective these sorts of things are... I'm sure somebody thinks "Sex Tape" is the "Citizen Kane" or "Vertigo" of something or other :)

It's funny but of the comments so far, several people mention Sin City 2 and I agree with them rather than Dr K. It's a perfectly watchable movie and not as bad as people seem to think it is.
My worst movie of the year is I, Frankenstein which was loud, noisy, terribly acted, dismally photographed, shoddy special FX and had the intellectual level of a walrus.

Out of all the films Mark mentioned there, I only saw one of them and that was Sin City 2, which I quite liked as well. My Worst are
10: Mr Turner. I love Timothy Spall and I love Mike Leigh, but this was like watching paint dry.( pardon the pun)
9: The Babadook. There was nothing scary about it, seen it all before and some of the acting was comical.
8: The Grand Budapest Hotel. I can see why people love Wes Anderson and his films but I just find them boring, sorry.
7: Dracula Untold. Rubbish.
6: Robocop. Compared to the original it's a complete turkey.

10.Under the Skin..Went over My Head.
9..Under the Skin..Tedium beyond belief.
8..Under the Skin..Dreary.
7..Under the Skin..What on earth!
6..Under the Skin..Alien to me.

I quite liked 'Sin City 2' as well; certainly nowhere near my worst films of the year.
'Sex Tape' and 'Grace of Monaco' though were without doubt utter rubbish.
I never got chance to see 'The Canyons', and probably didn't miss anything, but there were worse comedies this year than 'Mrs Brown's Boys', although I didn't like it myself either.

Of the five titles mentioned I can only comment on two of them.
The problem with Sin City 2 was that the dialogue was so utterly leaden and dull that it just sapped the life from the rest of the story. And in a movie where it's all surface, you need more to engage the audience.
Grace of Monaco should've been called 'Carry on Monaco' as it was just this ridiculous pantomime of film that i can't believe anyone could get worked up about it. Everyone said it was worse than Diana, where as Diana was self-serious tosh, Grace of Monaco was history told in the style of the Val Kilmer Batman movie with a complete disregard for facts or the conventions of film making. Director Olivier Dahan seemed quite happy just to let his actors play it any way they wanted, so you get Robert Lindsay camping it up and Nicole Kidman trying to be terribly earnest, much to the amusement of the audience.
