Representing all things good about BBC Introducing on the Radio 1 Playlist this week is To Be Frank and his track, If You Love Her. Fresh from his performance on our stage at Reading + Leeds Festival, the singer's tune will be played across BBC Radio 1's daytime shows for the next week and form part of Huw Stephen's free weekly download after his Wednesday night show. Have a listen below and, as always, we welcome your feedback.
Hometown: To Be Frank is London singer Frank Pescod, raised in Suffolk.
Style: One of the charms of To Be Frank is Pescod's versatility. His varied output reflects his avid consumption of all musical styles, ranging from The Beatles and Paul Simon to Aretha Franklin and Marvin Gaye. If You Love Her is one of the most stripped back BBC Introducing tracks to hit the Radio 1 playlist for some time. It's tender, heartfelt, but much like the work of James Blake, exceptionally powerful.
You need to know: Pescod knows his way around the music industry and was formerly the manager of another great BBC Introducing band, Stornoway.
Supported by: BBC Introducing in Suffolk have really got behind To Be Frank and his material has also been picked up on by BBC DJs Rob Da Bank, Huw Stephens, Lauren Laverne and Zane Lowe.
Find out more: Well, obviously check out two tracks from his set at Reading first and then his official site.
