Record Store Day 2011 happens on Saturday April 16th in shops around the world. It's a chance to celebrate the places which tirelessly champion new music of all kinds. With special releases coming out by the likes of Beastie Boys, Gorillaz, Franz Ferdinand (there's well over 200 one off releases this year, the 4th annual Record Store Day), and so many instore gigs happening, it really is a celebration of independent stores.

Those rooms full of posters, flyers, vinyls and cd's, books and tapes, the places which represent scenes, cities, countries and genres, which fly the flag for the music they believe in. There's nowhere quite like them. I spoke to Sandy from Love Music in Glasgow and Matt from Tangled Parrot in Carmarthen about this hugely important day and heard their local artist tips.
