Newtonmore secured their third league title in a row on Saturday, brushing aside Glenurquhart 2-0 at Drumnadrochit.

Danny MacRae had the fans in party mode after 11 minutes when he blasted the Badenoch club ahead. Chris Sellar added the second goal of a comfortable afternoon. As Newtonmore skipper John Mackenzie lifted the 2012 trophy high above his head, the curtain came down on the 2012 Premiership season.

Well, I don't even know where to start with this one.

Mossfield Stadium, Oban, was the setting for the 105th Camanachd Cup final and, for the first time ever, an all-South final took place in the South between Inveraray and Kyles Athletic.

More than 3000 spectators crammed their way around the field, grandstand and hill to witness this historic moment.

Inveraray won the toss and took the wind advantage from the start and made good use of it as Russell MacKinlay scored for Aray after only seven minutes to set Mossfield alight.

By the time Roddy MacDonald replied with a double and Garry MacPherson made it 2-2, Mossfield park was on fire!

Kyles Athletics will go into shinty's blue riband event as favourites, although Inveraray have beaten the Tighnabruiach men already this season in the league.

Newtonmore are within grasping distance of lifting the 2012 Orion Group Premiership trophy after beating islanders Bute 2-0.

It was More youngsters Ackie MacRae and Calum Stewart who bagged both goals for the Badenoch side with no reply in return from the Rothesay men.

Kyles Athletic sit alongside Newtonmore on 26 points but have played one more game than their closest counterpart.

Kinlochshiel travelled to Tighnabruaich to meet the south league hopefuls and opened the scoring first through Keith MacRae. Roddy MacDonald brought Kyles level on 30 minutes, which was followed up by a John Whyte double, to finish the day's scoring and take Kyles back up alongside Newtonmore at the top with a 3-1 victory.

If Kyles stand any chance now of lifting their first-ever Premiership title, they need Newtonmore to drop points this week against Glenurquhart.
