What's your role at Euro 2008?
Commentating for Match of the Day. I've six group games to cover, all in Switzerland and featuring all eight countries based there. Once the group matches are out of the way the decision is made as to which commentators go where. Always a tense time!
Favourite team and favourite player?
I was raised within cheering distance of Prenton Park, home of the mighty Tranmere Rovers. My first footballing hero was Steve Coppell, who thrilled all Rovers fans for a season or so until he went to Man Utd, a decision I'm sure he still bitterly regrets.
Ideal sporting dinner guest?
My ideal sporting dinner guest may well be the late BBC radio football commentator Peter Jones.
Best bit of advice you've received?
As a teenager one of my teachers once shouted to the back of the classroom: "Just exist, Wilson!" I still am.
Tell us something the public might not know about you...
When I left school I wanted to be a chef and ended up studying hotel and catering management for a year and a half. I hated it and left to study English at university instead, but I am still a keen cook.
Disappointed the Home Nations didn't make it to Euro 2008?
Not disappointed, more annoyed. Despite lurching from one mishap to another, England should still have qualified, but I suppose if we had then Steve McClaren would still be in charge, so every cloud...
Will there be another surprise winner?
Why not? I don't think there is one team which stands head and shoulders above the rest at the moment. In Portugal 2004, I commentated on Greece four times and although they were not great to watch, once their bandwagon started rolling they became unstoppable. Mind you how many of their players from 2004 can you still name? Err.... Zagorakis, err... struggling. Romania and Turkey are my dark horses.
Which player will take the tournament by storm?
Finally, how many goals will be scored at Euro 2008?
I think there are 31 games, so I will go for an average of 2.5 goals per game. That will mean 77.5 will be scored. I might put some money on that - the odds should be good.
