BBC Proms Maestro Cam and Solo Cam

This Proms season, BBC Red Button returns with a selection of services available alongside the regular broadcasts for selected performances.

Maestro Cam and Solo Cam will focus exclusively on the conductors and soloists respectively, giving viewers an alternative perspective on the Proms from amongst the musicians themselves. By pressing red, viewers can also listen to live commentary from an expert conductor and hear their unique insights into the music as the work is played.

The service will be available for six Proms, continuing on Thursday 21st July from 7:30pm with Prom 9 and, Thursday 28th July from 7:30pm with Prom 14.

Prom 9
Maestro Cam will feature Sir Mark Elder conducting the Hallé Orchestra performing music by Sibelius, Bartók and Janáček. Bartók's Piano Concerto No 3 will be performed by pianist András Schiff and feature on the evening's Solo Cam.

In addition, optional expert commentary will be supplied by conductor Matthew Rowe.

Prom 14
Maestro Cam will feature Sir Roger Norrington conducting the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra performing Mahler’s Symphony No 9.

Dragons’ Den

It’s the start of a new series and there’s a new Dragon in the Den – logistics tycoon Hilary Devey.  A new raft of keen entrepreneurs are about to enter the Den and make a pitch for an investment that could make their business – and change their lives.
Here on the Red Button we get to peek behind the scenes and get the inside story on the investments made in the Den each week.  What attracted the Dragons to the business?  What did the other Dragons make of the deals? And why did the entrepreneurs take the deal they did in the Den?

Bollywood Stars

BBC Asian Network will bring all the news, excitement and stars from this year’s Indian International Film Awards to the BBC Red Button with Bollywood Stars. From 18 -24 July, viewers will be able to experience the world of Bollywood from the IIFA weekend, which was held in Toronto last month.

The programme, presented by BBC Asian Network Breakfast show presenter Tommy Sandhu, captures all the stars, the buzz, and glamour that surrounds the Indian film industry. Tommy chats to the stars, goes behind the scenes at the awards and gets up close and personal with some of the biggest names around.

Sing along with Cleopatra, Dick Turpin and other characters from Horrible Histories!  Viewers can press red to sing along to five songs from Horrible Histories.  So whether you like to disco with the Aztecs, dance with some funky Stoneage guys or get a musical run down of all the monarchs - it's all here!

Horrible Histories Quiz

Things get a little gory behind the blood red button with the Horrible Histories quiz!  Viewers can press red to play along with the quiz based on horrible happenings across history.  There'll be gory, funny clips from the brand new series with questions from days gone by.  The quiz is hosted by Horrible Histories regular cast member Martha Howe Douglas in the guise of a Georgian peasant girl.

On weekends the tone becomes more conversational when Red Button viewers can watch a topical interview in 'Five Minutes with...' or a round-up of the week's weird and wonderful videos in OddBox.
