As you may know by now, Adam & Joe are now off for a summer break from their Saturday morning show. Noooo! I hear you cry. Well Yesssssss! I cry back - but please don't be upset, as it's not all bad news.

Reason to be Cheerful Part 1 - Andrew Collins is in tomorrow (4th July), celebrating the wonderful world of Independent Record companies on Independence Day.

Reason to be Cheerful Part 2- The wonderful Danny Wallace will then take over for the rest of the summer. Anyone who heard Danny sit in for Shaun Keaveny at Breakfast will know they are in for a treat. There will be fun and guests and of course, great music.

Reason to be Cheerful Part 3 - The best news for Adam & Joe fans is that from 11th July, the boys will return with a weekly Classic Song Wars podcast. Each week there will be a set of Song Wars tracks for you to download and keep, as well as an accompanying commentary from Adam & Joe about the making of the songs. Here's a bit to give you a taste

The first podcast will be telling the stories behind the making of family-friendly erotica favourites, Dr Sexy and Dirty Robots. It will be worth the wait, I promise. Of course, we'll keep the Adam and Joe blog bang up to date with your bits and bobs and look out for special posts from the boys themselves over the summer.

Hah at the new jingle. Adam really sounds like he wanted to be somewhere else at the time.

  • Comment number 2.

hmm - I don't get that impression but we all have different ears.
    1) Love Andrew Collins and his fabulous brain.
    2) Adore Danny Wallace and want to pop him in my pocket for later
    3) Choosing a favorite Song Wars is like asking a mother to choose her favourite child but I've always been frustrated that Dirty Robots & Doctor Sexy (I like to write it in full as in Doctor Who) were not on the Album so it will be great to hear them wittering on about their masterpieces.
    4) We have yet another new jingle variation.

Have a great time, everyone .....Andrew & Danny (and James), enjoy the show. Adam, try to relax in the last week of your sit com and all the other work that should be coming your way and Joe, enjoy sitting in the director's chair.

I'm aghast at the proposed entire summer without the Adam and Joe show, essentially making the whole concept of radio entertainment temporarily irrelevant. But I wish you all a fun filled summer of nonsense, I am more than excited to hear of progress on "Ant-Man", so use your time wisely please Dr. Sexy, I await pleasing results.

A little Adam and Joe is better than no Adam and Joe. Enjoy your well-deserved summer holiday!
    all the best from Berlin!

Question for producer James, when are Adam and Joe due back? We need to know so Black Squadron can rise again!

  • Comment number 6.

HI donandgeorge, the boys are due back on air on 29th August - but please everyone, have a listen to Danny Wallace as he will do a great job over the summer.

  • Comment number 7.

Have fun, all of you. I shall hibernate listening to those podcasts... I can survive. :D

  • Comment number 8.

Hi, Adam & Joe mini podcasts will help keep us busy over the summer.

Any chance Danny Wallace's show will be given the old pod treatment while he covers? He's a brilliant host but I am very much not black squadron so will miss huge chunks otherwise.

  • Comment number 9.

I hope the both of you have a great summer.
Maybe I should take this time to clear my computer of over 2 GB of A & J Podcasts. Im a crazy Podcast hoarder, I'll put them on CD or something, thats what Digiforce would do.

  • Comment number 10.

@JamesProducer thanks for that info but can I just check if Adam and Joe know that? I thought Adam said 'sometime in September' during one of the Glasto bits.......or was it the last podcast.

Will 6Music cover Carnival this year?

Listened to all of Andrew Collins & fully intend to catch Danny. This is PlaceHolderSupport Squadron, isn't it?

  • Comment number 11.

I really do hope that Danny does some kind of podcast, his XFM ones were always pretty good. Btw would anyone be kind enough to tell me what number podcast 'Glastonbury 2' was for them? I've got 72 episdoes of the podcast in my itunes library, but I've a sneaky feeling I might have accidentally deleted some :(

  • Comment number 12.

Just adding my voice to those requesting a podcast from Danny Wallace. I know he didn't do one when he filled in for a week, but since it's such a long stint this time do you think we might be allowed one?

Hope the boys have a good summer - huge thankies in advance for the forthcoming song-wars treats.

  • Comment number 13.

    All summer? Are you serious?

  • Comment number 14.

I took the news of A+J's long absence far worse than Michael Jackson's demise, altho i'm sorry about that too of course. But i had no great wish to listen to him for 3hrs on a saturday morning,i guess that's the
Anyway Danny Wallace is a fine stand-in,we'll be ok(won't we?).

  • Comment number 15.

    August the 29th?!
    justbecausethey'vegotmoreinterestingthingstodo :(

Am not going to listen to stupid stand-ins no matter how highly recommended they are. *pout*

But at least I get to hear ye olde song wars... eventually 0_o

  • Comment number 16.

The 2nd Glastonbury podcast was #75 for me.

  • Comment number 17.

thanks FLIMEMA, grr i must have somehow deleted 3 of them.

  • Comment number 18.

Have a good summer guys, looking forward to your return in September.

  • Comment number 19.

@the_dandy_p your numbers may be out because you didn't bother to keep or include the some of the little 'sorry we're not here' entries (like the one Adam did today)

I have Glasto 2 at # 76 & that is with numbering the disgusting RTTN from 8th June as # 72a. Adam used to keep track of the numbers in the early days but if he still does, he don't mention it.

  • Comment number 20.

You work one day a week and you need the summer off? This isn't the 90's guys, there's a crisis, it's in all the papers! Miss your nonesensicle weekly bilge - have a great summer.

  • Comment number 21.

Thankfully Danny's got podcasts too! So I can listen to the Song Wars podcasts and Danny's podcasts one after the other. :D

  • Comment number 22.

Yes there will be a Danny Wallace podcast, published on Mondays by 3pm. Tell your friends!
