The simple future tense (what you are going to do)

To talk about what you are going to do in the future, you can use the correct form of aller ('to go') and then add an infinitive

For example:

Make sure you use the right form of aller so that it matches the person or thing doing the action:

  • Je vais
  • Tu vas
  • Il/Elle va
  • Nous allons
  • Vous allez
  • Ils/Elles vont

For example:

  • Je vais manger un sandwich - I’m going to eat a sandwich.‎
  • Tu vas manger un sandwich - You're going to eat a sandwich.‎
  • Il/Elle va manger un sandwich - He/she is going to eat a sandwich.
  • Nous allons manger un sandwich - We're going to eat a sandwich.‎
  • Vous allez manger un sandwich - You're (polite or plural) going to eat a sandwich.‎
  • Ils vont manger un sandwich - They're (mixed group or masculine) going to eat a sandwich.‎
  • Elles vont manger un sandwich - They're (feminine) going to eat a sandwich.‎
