Key events leading to women getting the vote

Because of the protests of women and the support of some key, male figures in society, things gradually started to change for women. It was a very slow process but real change could be seen happening. There had been some progress in women's rights during the 19th century. In 1857, The Matrimonial Causes Act gave women the right to divorce their husbands


Why was the vote so important to women?

The vote would give women a say in politics and would mean that politicians had to listen to their views when making policies. Therefore, this would help them in all other areas of life too.
