Writing about your area

In this section, you are going to give information about your area. So, first things first:

Ble wyt ti'n byw? – Where do you live?

  • Dw i'n byw ym Mangor. – I live in Bangor.
  • Dw i'n byw yng Nghaerdydd. – I live in Cardiff.
  • Dw i'n byw ym Mhwllheli. – I live in Pwllheli.

You will notice that the first letter of the place names – Bangor, Caerdydd and Pwllheli – has changed after yn.

Look at Mutations: soft, nasal, aspirate for more information about the nasal mutation.

Sam ydw i a dw i'n byw ym Mangor, yng ngogledd Cymru. Mae Bangor yn hyfryd. Mae pwll nofio, castell, pier, prifysgol a llawer o siopau da yma. Mae'r ardal yn hardd. Dw i'n hoffi byw ym Mangor achos mae'n gyfleus iawn.

Lyn ydw i a dw i'n byw yn Nhrefdraeth, yng Ngorllewin Cymru. Mae Trefdraeth yn dawel yn y gaeaf ond mae'n brysur iawn yn yr haf achos mae traeth ardderchog yma ac mae twristiaid yn hoffi dod yma. Dw i'n hoffi byw yn Nhrefdraeth achos mae'n hyfryd iawn – a dw i'n hoffi mynd i'r traeth.
