Ask students to look at the history of religion in Wales and the history of the Welsh language. Ask the students to make a note of why Queen Elizabeth I wanted a Bible in the Welsh language. Get students to research the history of the Welsh Bible perhaps by looking at the website of St Asaph Cathedral where William Morgan translated the text. Present the class with an English Bible text and get them to translate as many words as they can into Welsh, then present them with the Welsh version and see how they did. Remind them that Morgan was translating Hebrew and Greek into Welsh. Why is learning a language so important?
