How many different ways are there to make £1 using different coins? Some of the possible combinations are shown.

First broadcast:
2 November 2000

Pupils could watch the clip and then be asked to draw from memory at least one of the coin combinations which make £1. The clip can then be shown again and pupils asked to draw the combinations that they could not remember the first time. Pupils can then work in groups and be given play coins, along with a giant one pound coin (on paper or card). They can then be asked to stick each working combination onto the £1 coin.
