An animated sequence that explores the varied diets of a range of animals. The differences between carnivores, herbivores and omnivores are shown and the animals that appear in the clip are grouped according to what they eat. This clip is useful as introduction to a topic about food and its associated vocabulary.
After viewing, each pupil could be given a card with the name of an animal on it. Pupils must race to find all the other animals that belong to their group – all the other carnivores, herbivores or omnivores. After each race, you could collect the cards, shuffle them and deal them out to the class again. Award a point to the group that finishes first in each round of the game. For added fun, you could tell the pupils that they must not show their card to anyone else in the room, but identify the fellow members of their group by the animal movements or sounds they make.
