An introduction to the ‘friendship code’. This is made up of letting friends play with others, making up after a disagreement, playing kindly with new friends and knowing that friends need time apart as well as together.
This could be used to demonstrate the ground rules of friendship. Discuss the ideas mentioned in the clip. Does everyone agree with them? Do they sound reasonable? Encourage children to come up with their own friendship code and, if possible, provide material to make posters of some of those rules to decorate the classroom. Finally, pupils could stand in a circle and take it in turns to say what they like most about their class.
