Glasgow is home to 17 of the 20 poorest areas in Scotland. Almost one in six Glaswegians are off work on incapacity benefit, and 14 per cent are on income support. The clip outlines government response to long-term unemployment and outlines a case study of how people can be helped back to work.

Students can discuss what makes a good community and then watch the clip to get further ideas. Using the clip, students could write a profile of a person who lives in a deprived area, who is out of work, and a profile of someone who has found work.
